I decided to try a stand that I hung last year for the late late late season, It was awesome then, and I almost connected on some slammers several times but just didnt happen. I got to thinking, Heck its a funnel between two strip pits (water) Its a long gradule grade up from a corn field before it squeezes into the pinch point. the bedding is nasty pine thicket, and the woods is Huge!! If these deer want in this prefered woods they have to funnel through here either before daylight or after. I knew I was on to something on the long out of the way walk this morning as I didnt want to travel there route. When I got near I found a fresh double scrape directly under a hornets nest that ought to be interesting. I found rubs, and the tracks on the old quad trail that leads near my stand were just everywhere!! I mean everywhere!! 1 hour agter light two mature Does without fawns came in from my right and passed in front of me at 10 yards. 20 minutes three Mature Does without fawns came in directly behind me, walked to my tree and took turns smelling the base, walked in front of me toward bedding area. 40 minutes two 1.5 bucks came in together from behind me and walked to my left at 15 yards headed toward the bedding. One was a cattle horn spike and the other was a TALL 4 point. A classic between the food and the bedding spot with a pinch point as a bonus. I had two bucks on my mind this morning, Fang and Moose, two brutes that I almost got a crack at last year. I have Fangs sheds from the bedding area. neither showed up But a Great dat to say the least!! Hope everyone had great days to EDIT!! I forgot to mention, the two little bucks sparred lightly for a moment, then the spike made a rub before walking off. Im wound up like an 8 day clock!!!
Damn, sounds like a great spot and an awesome hunt you had this morning! Looking forward to your success!
Souns great man! I went out this morning with the mindset of "Big Buck or Bust". I got to the edge of the field and sure enough there were deer all over the bean field. I couldn't tell what they were but ended up bumping them. Once I got settled into my stand, over the course of 30-40 minutes I had 6 does (4 mature ones)- had shots from 8-25 yards with a slight quarter away at every one of them, but I let them walk. A couple of them circled downwind and I thought for sure that they would bust me, but never did. A while after they left I had 8 turkeys come in and actually lay down right in front of me at about 20 yards. Now that SUCKED! I couldn't move AT ALL and they caught me in a really bad position that got uncomfortable as heck after about 10 minutes. They stuck around for about 30 minutes. I got down around 9:45-10 this morning once it started raining.
at least some of you guys are seeing stuff and enjoying your time in the stand..the last 3 sits...BLANKED....my luck has to start changing here soon...
Gary, I though you had a great hunt this morning... its like we were there with ya! Kinda awesome if you ask me!

Thanks guys, elgum that sounds like a great hunt. Ill try another one of my hot spots for the evening, and if a Doe comes in, she's toast I dont want to over hunt this spot from this morning, Ill be there again in the morning if its not raining.
Sounds like it can't get much better than that unless you kill a slammer. Good luck rest or your season Dan.
