After two bow seasons of not hunting, I finally got around to sighting my bow in the middle of October this year. I bought the bow around this time last year and never shot it once this spring/summer/fall. At first, my attentions were not even to go out this year either, been busy with work, house, and life so didn't look like I would have the time. I told myself the beginning of October, enough messing around, sight the bow in, get a stand out on the newly aquired land and hunt! Saturday morning, sitting in my hang-on, seeing just a six-point and five does. Get out of the stand around 10:30am, walk the property a little more because still not familiar with it all. Decided I was going to bring my Summit climber back with me the next time I come back. Fast forward to Sunday morning. Was planning to go hunting Sunday evening but didn't know where. At first, was going to sit on property not too far from where I live that I have permission on. Decided to go back out to the new property with climber in hand. Fast forward once again to Sunday, 3:00pm. Arrived at the property and the first thing I realize when I arrive was someone was running an ATV through the path where I had my hang on. No big deal, wasn't planning to sit in it, but, was hoping they would stop running their ATV for the sake of messing up my afternoon hunt. I had planned to go over the bank and down into the woods deeper. Luckily, they stopped and got out of there right as I was entering the woods. Climb my tree, spray Tinks down wind from me onto the ground and get settled in. Now all I have to do is....wait. 5:15pm rolls around and I hear leaves restling from my left. Left is downwind from me. I turn and look....dear....buck! Upon second look...its a shooter! I quietly stand, grab my bow, and get it ready. Buck coming in quartering to me at 30 yards. Stops behind a tree, I draw back, he steps out, still quartering to me...I wait...he steps behind another tree, now at 20 yards...comes out broadside...clear shot...I get it to stop by a verbal 'meh'...he looks at me, trigger pulled...arrow in flight...THWACK...YES!!!...Blood spilling out...I knew I hit him good. I collect myself for 15 minutes and then climb down, take my equipment to the truck and come back in for the track. Good blood, tracking in the dark...1 hour later...success!!! Main 10 point base with two kickers. One on his right G1, one on his left G2. His right G2 had a damaged tip and he broke off is left G3...I'm assuming a little fight from this year...otherwise, would have been a dandy 12. I'm happy regardless...first buck kill since 2005...my 'come back' buck!
