I took this doe on my property in IL Saturday evening. She came in with about 4 other deer and presented a hard quartering away shot at 22 yards. I hit her in front of the rear leg and exited the off side front shoulder. The Rage tipped FMJ passed almost completely through this deer lengthwise. You can see the exit wound, the entrance was pretty nasty with things hanging out. (Not very photogenitic) She only made it 50 or so yards and ended up in a small ditch. The video should be up on BH.com in a few days, so look for it. I still have to send it in and let the crew put my story together. You'll have to pardon my lack of pictures. I was by myself and my cameras self timer was having issues, so I used the broadhead on my arrow to trip the shutter.
Excellent work there teammate!! I made a similar shot on my second buck this year only from the opposite side. In from just in front of the left rear leg and out through the top of the right front leg like he wasn't even there. He went about 60 yards and you couldn't have poured a more solid blood trail.
Nice slick head JM! I have a question for you! A friend of mine said that he has the rage and they are usually only good for one shot. Is that true with what you have experienced?
Greg, I got my kill last year on video, but it took 2 days to find that one. Dawg, I've killed multiple animals with the same Rage Head. Just straighten up the blades and sharpen them with a fine stone or diamond sharpener and you're good to go. The one I took this doe with is #1 in my quiver right now!
Congrats on the doe, John! I passed a shot up on a doe tonight like that. Just wasn't really confident with the angle. Glad to see it can get the job done. Have you taken shots like that before?
