I overslept yesterday morning and didn't get out of bed until daybreak but still decided to still go hunting. I've been hunting mornings all week and working 3-11 so it finally caught up with me. Got to the woods around 0800 and chose a spot I haven't sat this season. Long story short, had three does cautiously come in and I shot this girl at 1000 at 15 yards. Perfect heart shot (and lungs) and she died within sight. This was my first shot opportunity at a doe this season. I passed a 9 pointer I call "Unibrow" on opening morning and Friday I passed a different 9 and then an 8. They are decent bucks but nothing any bigger than what I've already shot. Really trying to kill a hoss this year. I have 3 buck tags so maybe I shouldn't be so selective. We'll see how I feel the next time one comes by me. I had to kill this doe though so I can kill two bucks in a row (earn a buck). A few years ago, I killed a smaller buck and then had a big boy come by but couldn't do a thing about it because I hadn't killed a doe. I'm just glad VA allows us that first buck without the taking of a doe. "Unibrow" 9 Ptr I passed (the one that is front and center - split right G2) Target buck
Congrats on the doe. Good luck with your target. By the way, that pic of you with the doe kill is so good I'd make it your cover photo on your facebook page. Blessings........Pastorjim
Nice doe, and nice shot. The fact that you are passing on bucks already tells me you know what the deer are doing in your woods.
