I agree, this is way more fun than facts. Facts? We don't need no stinking facts!

Done plenty of research and know people that have them. There is no comparison. I'm not talking about some cheap cross bow set up either. I'm talking about an apples to apples comparison on a quality set up. I stand by my statement that the average guy can double his range. Cross bows are so much easier for the average guy to be accurate with IMO. I definitely wouldn't call most of the people on here average though. I don't think most of the guys on here could double their range because I believe they already have the accuracy to shoot farther than the average guy with their vertical bow.

Besides, the real advantage to a cross bow isn't range, it's not having to worry about getting caught drawing back, drawing to soon so you have to let down and risk getting busted or instead risk a bad shot because your shaking, etc. As well as being able to have a solid rest on a tree, shooting bar, shooting stick, etc. These are all huge advantages and facts.

It always amazes me that anyone would actually say a cross bow is not a clearly superior weapon. Especially when you have people in the industry (including TV personalities) that say cross bows are "vastly superior" and "the ultimate killing machine". Even they will admit this (unless they are trying to get cross bow legislation passed) yet others on the internet cannot.

Anyway.... back to the topic of the thread. That Winchester is a nice looking bow and 343fps for a 7" brace hight is pretty sweet too!

    So do I.
    http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/post/Wisconsin-Late-Season-Success-RIP-Perfect-12.aspx

I also had to use one one fall because of a hunting injury, so I have hands on experience.

No one said it wasn't. I only said that a crossbow cannot double a person's range.....but people think it does.

Sure, it may be easier to shoot, but it is no more effective at longer ranges than a compound.

Doubling a persons range, and doubling a persons EFFECTIVE range, are two completely different things.

The crossbow is simply easier to shoot accurately at distance than is a compound bow.

End of my contribution to hijacking this thread.

I was going to stay away but I could not resist. most guys bashing crossbows have either never used one, not HAD to use one, not had a hunting buddy loose the ability to shoot a stick and string and go to one or simply are uneducated on their use. Now with that said there are a couple guys who are informed and just don't like them and that is cool.

I hunt a bow only county that our state pushes in all the mags as the very best place to kill a monster. Crossbows are legal her and have been for awhile. The only thing the crossbow has done is limit the amont of available land because more guys are in the woods. once the gun season opens, they are gone for the most part. If you want to see slobs, look no further than compund shooters. most guys have no clue about tuning, form or just their equipment in general. Go to walmart the night of your opener, those guys buying arrows, broadheads and calls are not buying bolts...those arrows are full length, even though their draw is 27, no wait 27.5...no maybe it's 30". Ahhhh who cares, it's just something to do until gun season gets here.

My hunting partner (many have heard me speak of him and our trips afiled) had to resport to the X bow because of shoulder surgery. he has taken some nice deer, but this year he switched back to his XT and turned it down to 55lbs. He said he was tired of deer jumping the string because it is so loud. He has an X Caliber shooting VERY fast, a top of the line set up if you will. We shoot it for fun in the yard all the time, and at 50 yards it is dead nuts...but on a deer I would not shoot it past about 25.

For everyone who thinks they are the end of the world, you are probably just worried about someone else hunting "your" deer, or killing "your" trophy. They are not and have not been the end of the world in Ohio, Georgia or anywhere else they were introduced. I WAS the biggest opponent of the crossbow when they came to Georgia, until I almost lost my hunting buddy. Now I want to kill a deer with one just to check it off the bucket list. I hijacked this thread enough and will not argue with anyone, any further about this...but I can assure you, they are not like a rifle other than the scope, they are not easier to kill with...maybe easier to kill with quicker (I feel a person with a good knowledge of game and angles could kill in a few shots or less) they will not make your neighbor kill all your big bucks, or wound them all for that matter...and last but not least they are not the end of hunting or bow seasons.

EDIT...a member or two knows me on here and you have seen me kill numerous deer with compunds. I read my post and wanted to make sure no one thought I was a X Bow shooter because my post almost comes off as an elitist X bow guy...but that is not me:biggun:

I like the way you guys think. If they want to shot them use them during gun season. But The bows look nice and I would like to shoot them and see how they feel.

Personally, I don't like them in our bow season either (way to many bow hunters in Michigan), but I wouldn't mind having a good one (if it was given to me) to use during the early doe gun season so I wouldn't spook nearby bucks. That way I could fill the freezer quick and get back to looking for some more bucks to bow hunt. :)

So you guys think ther are to many hunters, they are way more effective than a compound, you do not want them in bow season and you think they would not spook a nearby buck when you whack a doe with them even though you dislike all the above about them. Sounds to me as if you are worried about perception and actually would not mind using one.

Here in Georgia, they have included a muzzaloader season intune with our last week of bow season before the rifles come out...they are a little louder than the X bow, but i can assure you the bucks do not up and run everytime they hear one.

Who are "they" in your post...the dreaded hunter who pays the same dues as you, supposrt the same cause etc...remember when grandpa Joe was teaching you to hunt and you had the audacity to carry a gun...your current peer group you are joing to knock X bows would have considered youa slob at that time, because rifle hunters and X bow shooters are slobs...remember, I hunt with a compund 99 percent of the time, just enjoy when hunters divide hunters...:argue:
