Went and pulled my cards yesterday before my hunt and had my main target buck at 1:00pm on the 29th. As far as my hunt I only saw a big tom turkey. He busted me before I could get a shot. Going to my favorite stand this morning and hoping to sit until 1-2. Won't be going tonight going with to take the kiddos trick or treating.

Bring home a biggin Luke - Halloween has always been the unofficial kick-off to the rut season for me...the magic season is here!

Still have steady rain set in as they predicted, supposed to last until sunset...hoping this will help the morning hunt as I should get out for a hunt before work. Following two days of rain - should have some deer moving.
And then as of now - looks like a Sunday morning hunt also this weekend.

These next two weeks should provide a nice bump in our score...Let's put some deer down Team!

Saw a 6pt and a fork horn this morning. Going to stand on a farm I haven't been to yet in the morning. Hung a new stand today covering a gate in a fence line. Had 3 little bucks on cam in one day there.

Coffee is brewing here as well. No morning hunt, but a morning with the kiddos. Good Luck Luke!

We decided to give my oldest his bow last night. He was pretty excited! 2013-10-31 19.21.46.jpg Today I'm helping my brother move into his own place and relaxing. The oldest gets to have a sleepover at Grandma's, so it's likely me and the other boys will camp out in the living room again

Jumped one deer in the dark close to stand, and saw a nice 2yr old 8pt out cruising/searching for does at first light - which had me expecting more activity. Saw quite a few still on their feet on drive to work - think they'll be moving most of day with 2 solid day of rain just getting done. Our scapes were covered with leaves and not re-freshed with the rain.

Man it was beautiful out though...so hard to quit early and head to work. Still hopeful for Sunday a.m. hunt - travel basketball out of town tomorrow for my 4th grader...should be a fun day with family though...

Thought of Joe yesterday and today as the out of state trucks are showing up in town - four wheelers and climbing tree stands in the back...the next 3 weeks the county roads will look like rush hour with all the headlights/taillights...

Sounds like the activity is getting ready to pick up! Hopefully that means a big boy comes out to play!

Hopefully your 4th grader has a good game. IMO, middle school and younger kids play the best games, because they are in it to win it and that's it

Hopefully all the traffic doesn't put any undue pressure on your areas, Matt. And hopefully enough pressure to make Joe's cross country trip a success!

Things are starting to heat up here sign-wise. Unfortunately I can't get in the tree nearly as much as I want to. When I'm not working the weather is awful.

Oh dont worry I'm planning on it!

This weekend isnt looking like it will be good for buck movement. 38 in the morning and 52 in the afternoon. The action has slowed down around my part, or so my dad has been saying. I have no idea where I'm hunting tomorrow. Im torn between a few stands and its getting into my head which to choose hoping I dont miss an opportunity. The only thing going for me tomorrow is that its supposed to rain at 1pm so hopefully with the storm rolling in bucks will be on their feet and i can catch one. I'm absolutely dying to hunt one stand in particular but promised myself to let it sit until rut. Being that noone has seen any signs of full rut im going to bite my tongue one last week and let it sit. That's one of those stands where once its on, im practically guaranteed something legal, then its my choice to decide to wait on something bigger or not.

I think im going to hunt the bedding area i deemed "rack city". I hunted it last week and saw two decent 2 year olds coming back to the bedding.. Its super thick and I have a feeling that as the season progresses this bedding area will be hot for bucks coming back late or scent checking does. Im going with the offensive approach this time. Gonna get out the estrous and bang some horns together to see if I cant trick an eager old guy into checking out whats going on. Lets hope it works, only 6 more sits for me here in PA.. its crunch time or lunch time..

Getting ready to head out the door for my hour drive south. Hopefully there isn't too many other hunters out there.

Sounds like you have a good plan! Good on ya for sticking to your decision to wait for the full rut to be on for that stand!
