finally leaving for ILLINOIS!!!!!!!!! WOOO!!!!

    FINALLY it is here! I leave tonight at midnight for Augusta Illinois for my 6 day hunt with Outdoor Partners, a DIY outfitter! I'm driving from RI, to FT wayne Indianna to meet up with my buddy. I will then transfer all my stuff over to his truck, and he will drive the rest of the way! My buddy Kelly and I met through OPLMS and was looking to do the same thing, go get a Midwest GIANT!! it's about 831 miles to his place, 13 hours or so!
    through all the ups and downs life can throw at you in the course of a year, including getting laid off (the trip was gonna be over at that point) being scared to death I was about to let down my family, and not have a job to support them..and to possibly lose our new house and land, to the final day before the layoff, being hired by the new company taking over, and being offered more money, and a supervisor position, and keeping all my existing vacation time!! through all that and then some.....I MADE IT!!!! it's finally here!! I will be self filming the hunt, and the experience!
    I finally get to live the dream!!!!!

    Awesome and good for you! I will be following this trip, so please post often. Seems funny that some drives 800 mile to get right down the road from where I live? But there are monsters out that way, so go get them. Other than the big bucks here, most of us that live here would be thrilled to live somewhere else!

    You will be hunting about 30 mins or so from where I live. I live just across the river in Iowa, Augusta is just right outside of Carthage I believe and I am like 20 mins from Carthage. Good luck on your hunt.

    That's pretty awesome man, good luck. I live about 45 mins from there and we're with working like 20 minutes from there all next week. Hope you get a bruiser.

    Remember to wear lots of cologne. Instead of rattling, try an airhorn or banging pots and pans together.
    Illinois bucks are attracted to weird smells and will come running to loud noises. Good luck :tu:

    Have a blast Swamp! I am headed out on a road trip tomorrow also for NC to run the Tough Mudder. Not as exciting as a hunt, but should be fun!
