you know, I wonder how many employees the average McDs location had 15 years ago vs. now? Even in podunk Edmore MI where I hunt, they gutted the town's only McDs about a year ago and rebuilt it- complete with 4 self-serve kiosks inside. You literally don't have to talk to or interact with a human being from start to finish. Looks like the amount of employees you used to see inside was cut by about a little less than half. And many of their employees were teenagers and retired people. I have to figure that at least 10, maybe 15 total positions (probably part time) were eliminated in a town with a population of 1100. Congrats, Progs.
Now THAT's an interesting Netflix series...the Canadien Syrup Cartels and the Quebecois Mob who sells bootleg syrup. Seriously fascinating.
Now they have the app to order ahead. I don't use it, but you go through drive through and tell them the number on your app. Seen people showing phone screen to the window person so not sure what/why that is. Pretty soon they'll have a keypad in a new express lane for app users, pull up, punch in the number then get food by some means. Last year or year before they went to cook to order on all their sandwich items. 1/4 pound patties were always partially raw. People don't understand that all these "convenience and quality" trials being performed are first steps in self serve style dining.
I got a breakfast sandwich meal the other day and it was $10.48. I was shocked but also not shocked at the same time.
