This is got to be the worst year for ticks, been turkey hunting all last week and cant keep them little buggers off me, just gave my dogs a bath and find one after the bath on one of my dogs. I think its time to invest in Deet, what do you guys use?

Honestly down here in MD, its been pretty good. Not sure if its the wet weather. For the past few years chigger have been out of control.

I haven't been in the woods for a few weeks, but mushroom and turkey hunting was terrible with ticks. Most I've ever seen.

Just get some of that good bug spray and spray down before you go. Spray your clothes and boots down a day ahead of time. I know I'm going to get the spelling wrong... but it's Premaran or Premiman or something like that. It stays on the clothes for several days and the ticks will stay off. You spray and really wet the clothes and then let them dry. It works.

The ticks were the worst I had ever seen in IL. in early April. I had one latched on my shoulder after mushroom hunting in the first week of April this year. Unreal..... Deep Woods Off is what I like to use.

This past weekend, I took my dog with me out to the local WMA to do some hiking around, letting her run around, smelling for rabbits, turkeys, etc... Man, we were both covered with ticks! Freakin' things were everywhere!

I was glad we were near the small bass fishing pond... I took off my sneakers, and we waded in the water near the boat launch. My dog swam around, I was up to above my knees in the water. We drowned a ton of ticks that way too! I still picked a few off me and off my dog afterward. So anyway, yeah, I agree with you all. The ticks are horrible this year way more than I've seen before!

I hate those things but luckily we don't get that many around here. More now than a few years ago but I seldom get one on me and the dog gets 1 or 2 a year.

It was horrible in Southeast Missouri this year for them... my boy and I pulled 10 - 15 off of us each time we went turkey hunting, and we stayed on the field edges for the most part and never went into the woods hardly.

I think the majority of ticks stay in the fields. I know walking through our field you'll come out covered but in the woods I never seem to get any on me. We have about 45 acres that is tick invested and the other isn't. We figured out that after doing a prescribed burn on one part of our farm it totally wiped them out and that was three years ago.

Bad here too- had to take the little woman to the hospital, they had to dig it out, and give her Lymes shots. Two neighbors had to get shots too from turkey hunting...I quit hunting cause of that. Been tramping these woods for many years and a little tick drives me out of the woods.

This was the first year I had a camera to put int he woods prior to the hunting season. My buddy and I placed the camera and left. I had one tick on my arm and he had several on his pants and one grabbing the back of his leg.

I think I had less because I "deeted" up my legs prior to heading in. Not sure how one little guy managed to go under my long sleeve shirt to the bent in my elbow and start latching on in a matter of 2 hours.

I'm going to get some permethrin prior to going back in.

I am telling you guys I think I have some symptoms of Lyme's Disease. I have been experiencing major fatigue, headaches, and body aches/chills off and on for two weeks. I have been around a lot of ticks this year. I am heading in Friday or Monday for a blood test.
