My plan is to put another deer down this next week. It will only be a 50 point deer but I hope that will put us back in the lead.
Trails buck is a cool buck. I mostly say things on here to rattle team 5’s chain Team 5 is just the team to beat

Thank you, we been after him for the last three years since we thought he turned 5.5. Thinking 8.5 this year, he really took a dive this year rack wise, last year he was High 60 6x5. All that said I was trilled to have the opportunity.

I went one each for the two bucks that are 20% over

Okay, there are valid "annoyance" to both sides absolutely whenever this issue comes up. There is always three veins in which inaccurate scores flow; picture angles fail to properly illustrate the buck, honest mistakes or pride influencing the numbers.

Been here long enough personally to see clear examples of each of those, and to be fair there is no reason to ignore any of those three things from influencing a for fun contest as it erodes it of that fun factor. Publicly ridiculing folks is NEVER appropriate however and unless I missed it this has not occurred yet - and I strongly encourage those frustrated to at minimum not cross that line.

I'll share a recent example of clear scoring issues...I was tagged in an image of a local buck shared to a social media platform by a hunting acquaintance and a message "Ty, you need to locate those extra 20 inches..."

One of the easiest and quickest ways for us to test the reasonableness of our own rough scores are find similar looking deer with similar picture angles and what they scored if from a trusted source....as example here are two clean 8 pointers taken from the same county similar angles. One of these says their buck scored 136 and change...the other says 157 and change...doesn't take a degree in anything to realize someone is dramatically incorrect. (mine on the left is the lower number...LOL)

I would encourage anyone to always review how to score videos, the scoring assistance thread, but also look around at other bucks scored to test your numbers AND perhaps one of the best things I ever did was do all the measurements BUT don't add them up - now flip paper over and do a second set of measurements entirely again, add up both sides and they should jive (if not redo again).

YOUR buck's score doesn't have any reflection on you as a hunter or person...

 

Well put , may I add no one really cares about your score but your integrity does matter. It's only a game at the end. I for one would respect a true 115 over a eeehhh maybe 130. Remember pictures lie. I have had this debate a hundred times on here. This contest is on the honor system.

Just FTR, my comment is making zero claims of anything and I made every attempt to make that quite clear, it was in response to the insinuatinons made by others prior only. When I've ever thought something seemed off you described precisely what was done, contact the admin of the contest (Fitz before Littlechief) and/or the captain. More often then not it is an honest mistake or a picture angle thing is all.

 

Maybe the poor sportsman’s ship started with miss scored deer and the posters team members who don’t question it? When there is some super obvious that score isn’t accurate why does it get past the team to begin with?
Pot met kettle. Police your own first then this would be a non issue
