I am wanting to switch to a drop away but, don't want to break the bank. Its between the NAP Apache and Ultra-Rest Quad Hunter. I like the full containment of the NAP but, I like the simplicity or it seems to be simple, of the Ultra-Rest.

Who has an Ultra-Rest Quad Hunter and what do you think about it?

Who has a NAP Apache and what do you think about it?

How easy is it to adjust?

On a drop away where does the string attach, cable or string?

I have a drop away right now an it seems to work really good. I've heard good things about the Apache but within the next couple weeks i'm going to buy a Ripcord Code Red drop away. They connect to the bow string.

As Mainehunter said - most dropaway rests attach to the downward cable of your bow. Both of the ones you mentioned work this way.

As for which is better, that's completely a personal preference. I haven't ever shot a QAD but have head plenty of good things about them for multiple people. I personally shoot the Apache and think it's a great rest. It's built very well, is solid and very reliable. It also features a tool-less adjustment system for easy tweaks. The new micro-adjust version is great.

Either way you go I don't think you can make a bad decision.

I have the old two prong spring style and never made the transition to a WB. My brother has one and I was not impressed from the first time I shot it. Then after a few shots through it his new arrows looked like the had been drug across hot tar in July. I made the decision then I would never put one on my bow. Anyways, I will be buying a drop away in a few weeks. I will probably be ordering it from Sportsmans Guide. Both are $54.99.
Justin, how do you like the full containment and did it add any noticeable weight to the bow? It looks like it would be a little heavier than most.

Justin, one more thing. The Ultra-Rest Quad Hunter can be cocked if you will (moved to the ready position) without the bow being drawn. I like the thought of being in the stand and having it ready so that there is that much less noise on the draw. Can the the Apache do this?

The Apache cant "cock" but it does come with a rubber arrow holder that goes in front of your rest to keep your arrow from moving around to much. I love my Apache!! Best rest I have ever had!!

Apache all the way, it is extremely quiet if that is a concern that has you on the bubble.

I switched and will never look back, honestly though you will like either one. Heard great things about the QAD too.

I am now off the bubble. It will be the Apache for me. Sounds like a great rest. I will let everyone know how it goes and how much I like it. I have no doubts now that it will be a great addition.
    Thanks Everyone.

You might want to check out bowhunting.com, I feel they always have a fair price, they sell the apache rest. If we enjoy this free site for advice we probably should support the people who run it, just somthing to think about.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice on the rest question. I have decided to go with the NAP Apache. It sounds like I will be more than happy with it. I will post a new thread after I get it in, mounted and tuned and let everyone know what I think about it.

    Thanks again, Stick.
