What do you do with you used hunting arrows? 1) Save the arrow as a trophy 2) Reuse the arrow because it's now "LUCKY" 3) Reuse the arrow because there's no sense in wasting a perfectly good arrow 4) Never use it again except for practice because it either didn't work the first time or it's unlucky
I rotate all of my arrows from practice squad to first string and back. After one passses through an animal I wash it off and rotate it back to practice. As I continue to rotate arrows it will make first string again but I will replace the fletching first. edit: I reuse the arrow.
A lot of times I don't even replace the feathers... simply wash off the blood in cold water and stick it back in the quiver.
I reuse them. If an arrow kills a deer and it's not broken or anything, it still remains the number 1 arrow. I don't even refletch unless it's needed. Just screw on a new broadhead and she's good to go.
I've only killed one animal so I kept the arrow as a trophy for my first ever deer. I'll probably keep using my next ones
Now that's a manly quiver. I clean my bloody arrows up and they go right back into my lineup. I don't have a first/second string or practice/hunting arrows. I just have arrows.
I have no problem reusing arrows. I definitely have one "lucky" arrow from the previous season I start with most of the time.
An arrow that's used to kill a deer (if I find it) gets benched with the rest. Every deer gets a brand new arrow and broadhead. It's just the way I roll.
I get the gist of your train of thought, which I find amusing.:D But, while this may be the case for some, the cost isn't really an issue for me. I figure it's a small price to pay for the many great days I get in the woods each year. It's the least I can do.
- save it and never use it again if i am going to mount the deer (minus the broadhead) - no mount.... use it again - looks suspect.... toss it
I wash most of the blood off and sharpen/replace blades and it goes back to my starting position. :D One goat and a mule deer this year... same arrow!
This^^ I have 6 practice arrows and 6 for when it counts. Me and my dad have our bows tuned to be able to shoot the same arrows and broad heads, and we each bought a dozen. When a fletching gets damaged we put that one to the side. Whichever of us is making the next trip to the shop takes all the arrows missing fletchings and gets them redone.
I have done the first 3 choices, i have the arrows saved from every buck that i have shot and i have reused the arrow that i have shot a doe with unless they were damaged. The cost well its just money, can't take it with me when the last great day comes!!!!!!!
