It's already August folks. Archery season will be here very, very quickly. I know most of us around here eat, breath and sleep this stuff, but now is the time to make sure your bow is tuned and in working order. If you haven't taken your bow in for it's yearly check up, the window is RAPIDLY closing. If you need a new string, now would be the time. Lube and grease? Better get it done quickly. These last few weeks leading up to bow season are a very busy time for pro shops. And as the days close, the busier they get. If you wait much longer, you may be looking at a week or 2 before you get your bow back. Just a reminder.

And, with archery season closing so rapidly, my anticipation rises every day. Just last week I obtained a 150 acre farm to hunt and I'm quite excited about that. Gotta get out there pretty soon and get a couple of stands hung.

I set out a second trail camera this morning just trying to get some inventory, and cause pictures are fun.

I'm still busy with the home project, and spending alot of time with the family. It won't be long and I'll be away from home an awful lot.

I have high hopes for this season. As most of you know, I've stepped away from the archery business and really, pretty much archery in general for a few months. I just shot my bow for the first time since early April just this week. I find myself with a new found excitement and attitude for this sport I love so much. I'm gonna keep the pressure off of myself this year and just have fun with it. I'm really looking forward to fall, and reading about everyone's successes and stories right here this fall.

Yep, it's fast approaching. I have my bows pretty much set, I'm shooting more often, I have 4 of my 6 stands hung, but my food plot is my biggest concern right now. Checked it yesterday evening, and I'm debating tilling under and doing a fall planting rather than waiting this final year for my clover crop out.

I just came in from my 3rd shooting session of the summer...the bow is dialed in and ready to go...but I still need to take a few shots with my broadheads and make sure they are still flying as true as they did last year.

I still have a number of stands to put up in Aug though...hoping I get a weekend where it isn't so dam hot!

    Good reminder, Don.

I've been shooting a lot more recently. Still need to put my backup bow back together but that won't take long. I haven't even gotten out to set any stands but I'll have a week off next week and will get it all done then.

    Good luck this season!

Yep, It can get crazy those last few weeks, days. I have had guys show up the day before bow season and need work done on their bow.

I've had to clean the cobwebs off first though :)

Up until this week i have done nothing to get ready for the season. That's gonna change now that its August. Ill be checking my stands and getting my cameras out in better locations for the early season. Lots of food around my area for the deer this year, unlike last year. It should be a great season.

About 40 days until our opener, and I just sold my bow this week:sad:. Looking hard for a new one, so we will see what happens.

I got a new bow the first week of April.

I need to get off my ass and send my first arrow through it.

Been dragging my feet getting shipped out to the guy for awhile, and finally did. The 2 bows I had in mind are now gone. I am supposed to look at one this weekend and hopefully all goes well. As long as I get one in the next 2 weeks there are no worries...I hope anyway.

I added a Hind Sight and took off my peep...and added a kisser button and string silencers and have gooned up my baseline BADLY. I am having a beyatch of a time getting dialed back in.

Add to that, I just received an impromptu, potentially not permanent promotion from being a Deputy Program Manager to being the acting PM and my time just got crunched hard.

My old boss was good about me sliding away to hunt early some days, my current boss...not so much. So I am back to 12 and 14 hour days again.

I am looking at my bow right now...that's the closest I will get to it any time soon.
