Everyone, I'm looking for a zoom control remote to hookup to my friction head on my camera arm that is compatible with a JVC everio GZ-HM40... this camera does not have a LANC port on it so a lot of remote don't work. I am just wondering if I need a new camera or if there is something out there that will work? Thanks in advance.

    You are most likely S.O.L.

Years ago, when I ran a Canon HV30 and had no LanC, I hacked into the wireless remote control that came with the camera. I removed the IR emitter on the end and soldered on a wire to have the IR emitter a couple feet or so out in front of the remote. I then fabricated a plate to mount the camera to that could hold the IR emitter out in front of the IR sensor on the front of the camera. It was an interesting hack, but it worked. I even called it the "poor man's LanC".

Buying a new camera is probably your best bet to gain a LanC input.
