Anyone ever mount zip-zag cleats (like the ones used on boats) to climbinbg sticks rather than ratchet or cam straps. Seems like an easy and quiet way to mount them, but I can't seem to find a load rating on them. For sticks that connect and rest on the ground, it doesn't seem like the rope would carry much weight. Separate sticks like LW or Muddy might be a different story.
Why would this be any less safe than the rope cam used bu Muddy? If you weave through and tie off it's not going anywhere. Holds boats to a dock is rough and windy conditions. Maybe I'm too far outside the box with this idea.
Tieing off and tieing down are two different things. We've also had boats come undone off their cleats.
Some of the older climbing sticks I've owned have those on them and they absolutely suck. You can never get them tight enough and for the most part IF we still use them we use ratchet straps in the rope's place.
