No... I mean the stiff we are told, like in that video or at college or even school ... history is so different now than it was when I was a kid ... all sorts of "facts" have changed .... so go back to my original post on here ... if God is real, then HE and He alone is the source of all truth

Why are all the other gods in that video considered to be false?

Why would people consider them true? Why Budah? Why Mohammed? They were taught that as truth and never sought out the real God for HIS truth ..n all ya gotta do is ask

For the same reasons you consider God to be true?

At first, yes ... I was raised a catholic boy and I believed that because I was told that was truth ....

then I was told a dozen other things were true by a dozen different people .... until finally I thought, "If there is a God, then He created me and HE would want me to know HIS truth ....

so I prayed one day and asked God for HIS truth ... not anyone else's and definitely not my own ... but HIS truth ... I don't expect you to believe me now, but I opened The Bible physically and God open my spiritual eyes to see HIS truth ... and it read COMPLETELY different to me than all the times I read it before with assistance for religious dogma people ... when I saw HIS Truth ... I accepted it and received it and God changed me ...

Religion is: I obey because I want god to love me

Christianity and the Bible: God loves me therefore I obey.

Biblical Christianity is different than all other religions in that aspect. It doesn't make it 100% true but that is why God is big enough to give us lowly sinners faith.

Sounds kind of :dan:. Sorry, I made too many serious posts in a row. I was getting twitchy.

I really dislike that statement, and I hear something similar to that all the time from christians.

The way I hear it most often referred to, is in reference to how bad we all are, and we can't be good without God. I think we all have the ability to be a good person, with or without God.

vito, you possess the ability to do good, where does that come from? have you ever seen a buck that is tending a doe, just let the next buck that smells she's in heat take over for him? NO they fight to the death if neccessary. they no no good they only know survival. thats why does will run their own fawns off of a food source in the winter. why? they are animals they only know to survive, they would never share, or love or try to be good! they have no conscience, they are animals. unfortunately you have a conscience as does every other human being, therefore you become responsible for your actions. you can't just kill someone over a girl at the bar and then say to the cops, "she was readdy to breed" lol it wouldn't fly, why because we have a moral conscienous of sin. If we didn't there would not be a single governmental structure of any kind, it would be Kill or be killed, survive and breed, nothing more, nothing less. So the question becomes where does your moral conscience come from?
the answer in short is God. He has given us a conscienceness of sin, right and wrong in order that we would realize our need for him. In our need he became a man in the form of His Son Jesus Christ, lived a sinless life and gave up his own right to life when he embraced the death of the cross as a payment for our sins. The Third day he rose from the grave, the ressurected Christ, the author and finisher of salvation. The question becomes what will you do with your belief. Will you place it in him or live on in ignorance pretending he doesn't exist. You say you need the knowledge, well I agree 100 percent with you! the word knowledge in the hebrew is yada, it means experiential knowledge, to know by an experience. If you ask God to reveal himself to you, he will you will get the intimate knowledge you desire and have desired your whole life.

I have a word for you, The Lord says he knows you, he formed you, he created you for greatness. He knows what happened to you on march 11 in your 8th year of life, he knows your tattoo he knows everything about you. He created you with a voice and a purpose, in order that you would speak to many peoples on his behalf! you are a man created for influence, it will only happen through Christ Jesus!

I hope that blessed you, if not be blessed anyway in all you do!

I would rather go out swinging than have never stepped to the plate!

    pastorandrew,

I was raised catholic, attended catholic school, and spent many hours learning/reading the bible. I believed. What you say is nothing I haven't heard before.

It was some time in my early 20s that things stopped making sense to me. They just didn't add up. I had never questioned my faith before, nor did anyone influence my doubts. More and more each day it becomes more obvious to me that its all a farce. So the question becomes, am I right or is God directing me in this way for a reason? I opened my heart and my eyes, and gave God every chance to show me he exists. The more I opened, the more it pushed me in the other direction.

So if God has a plan for me, then this is it. My mind will always be open, as it is with any subject. I can only do so much being a lowly, sinful human being. As I do with anything, I take all the information I can find before making an unbiased decision. I ask questions, I seek information, and then I make a conclusion. The more I search and learn about God, the more I conclude it is the biggest hoax this world has ever known.

I believe in an almighty God because he gives me the spark of knowledge to question him .

I also believe that he gives to his people the means for salvation as they are able to understand and comprehend.

I dont think a kind and loving God would condemn to Hell someone who has never had the exposure to one religion or another. ( think indegionous <sp> tribes throughout the americas or outlying islands or deep dark jungles of the world. )

I believe His basic tenants are the same, love one another, help one another, be good. It is man who makes the pomp and circumstance surrounding how they glorify the Creator, most of those rituals are grotesque and violent, short sighted and selfish, and almost always bigoted in one way or another.

i believe that Christinaity/Judiesm/Muslum faiths and their offsprings are all intertwined in their oldest bases , and in turn were spawned by the first Sumerian reliogious rituals and sun worship. I still think they are good and just , if they help to teach God's basic tenants Love and Charity and tolerance for ALL mankind.

As far as 9/11... I used to believe that it was an inside job. Now I cant see the Govenrment as compentant enough to pull it off. They may have known it was coming and did nothing to stop it because of who it potentially would benefit, and I cetainly believe they foamed at the mouth with glee when it did occur becuase it allowed then free reign and still does anytime the boogey man is mentioned.

Oh and I believe in ancient aliens too and their role in our evolution. Soooo ... discuss .

That's the beauty of the Gospel!! You cant do it!! Jesus has to do it because we are sinners and God cannot look on sin so through the work of Jesus on the cross He took Gods wrath for us so that we could have Gods righteousness!!

c.s. lewis said this, "Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord!" why? he was either a liar, because he claimed to be God, a lunatic because he claimed to be God or he was God, and that makes him Lord! he is Lord to me. He stated there was no other way to the father except through him. that excludes all other religion, there is one way to eternal life, thats through Jesus Christ. Some don't like that, thats fine. There are things i don't like, for example, disease, sickness, sin, adultry, abortion, the list could go on. I respect your desicion vito. I will leave it with this question, where did our conscience come from?

X2. Perhaps I think too much from the mind set of a realist. It's hard to imagine the greatest fairy tale ever told is actually true. I keep an open mind on everything, but I need irrefutable evidence to be fully convinced. I DO believe in higher powers...to what extent? I am not sure yet, time will tell. Until then, I keep forging my way through life as I want too and take things as they come.

From the brain. Brain scans show you are not born with this, and some people never develop it (sociopaths). Your conscience is developed through nurturing, which is normally provided by the parents of the child.

Just google zeitgeist errors...inaccuracies...debunked....false...etc. You will find a ton of stuff disproving parts, portions, segments of Zeitgeist. It has been thoroughly reviewed, analyzed, and picked apart. I still found it to be fairly interesting to watch(it went around our office a while back). And round and round and round it goes.

I have watched them. Like I said, I enjoy both sides to every story. I felt the Zeitgiest provided some information, either astrological or recorded, while debunking information appeared to be christian propaganda.

See, what christians or believers fail to realize, is this sounds like crazy talk to nonbelievers. Spouting scripture or things God wants us to do, sounds as similar to someone telling me they talk to ghost. If the goal is to convince nonbelievers, which is the primary goal, the message needs to change. You have to bring something more to the table than fear and crazy talk.
