I have the z7 xtreme and never shot the z7 magnum. But i can tell you the the xtreme is one of the best bows i have ever shot. Smooth draw cycle, steady when shot, no vibration, Really quiet. You can also go onto the mathews website and you can put both of the bows together and see the specs of both of them. hope this helps!

There are 2 differences in the bow, size and brace height. The Z7M has a 6 3/8 brace height rather than a 7 3/8 of the Z7X. This equates to slightly better speed, 340 v 330, respectively.
The Z7M is also slightly larger, it has an axle to axle of 32", as opposed to the 28" of the Z7X.

It really is a tough call. I had the Z7X and absolutely loved it. The draw cycle was smooth, the bow was balanced and most importantly, it was just plain tough. In my opinion it's the ultimate hunting bow, maybe only second to the newer ones mathews has, but I haven't shot those.

The Z7M I imagine is the same as the Z7X. Shoot them both and tell for yourself.

As noted - the Z7 Magnum is a little longer and faster than the Z7 ZXtreme. Having shot both and loved teh Z7 Xtreme, I still think I like the Z7 Magnum a little better. The longer ATA length felt a little more stable in my hands and a little extra speed never hurt anyone. :D

Did the Z7 M come out after the Z7X? I don't remember it being an optin when I bought the xtreme.

I recently traded my xtreme for an insanity. I wanted something different having only shot single cam bows and I like to learn and experiment. I will say, I do think the xtreme is still a better bow. It may not be as fast and flashy, but in a crunch situation, i think it performs better. The extra brace height and smoother draw helps the shooter draw in cold weather, extra clothes... and the longer brace height makes it more forgiving.

I have confidence the insanity will perform in the woods, but like I told the guy I traded... if tomorrow was the end of modern civilization, I would rather have the xtreme.

Now, this can be said for the Z7M, as Justin pointed out, they're nearly identical.

Shoot them both and make your choice, either route, you've made the correct one.

As you know shorter brace height means the arrow is on the string longer, thereby giving inexperienced shooter more time to need up. That's probably why they went with a longer ATA. My buddy has a z9 which has the z cam and 8 or 9inch brace.

For the OP if you're new to archery or just want more forgiving shooter go with the longer brace.

i have the magnum and chose that because it just felt more stable on the shot....smooth, quiet, and everything i could want in a bow.....i have shot the extreme as well and while it's a fantastic bow i just felt more stable with the magnum

Yeah, if you're more stable then the brace height is less important.

The Z7 Xtreme, Z7 Magnum, eZ7 and Z9 were all released at the same time (late 2010/early 2011).

    2010 - Z7
    2011 - Z7x & others
    2012 - Heli-m
    2013 - Creed & Monster Chill

I have the Z7 Magnun and I love it. It is a little heavier than the Z7 Extreme. But, it is really quiet and very smooth. People comment all the time at the range about how fast it is. Best bow I have owned to this date and I will NEVER get rid of it. I may buy other bows, but this one will be with me no matter what.
