This year my daughter was finally ready to go on her first youth hunt. She is 9 y/o. We had practiced shooting all summer and into early fall. Her gun of choice was a remington 700 .223 . She was shooting 1 inch groups at 100 yards like a pro everyday. Oct 29th was the first youth hunt in Wva of the season (antlerless only). The weather that morning was great. During the car ride to our hunting spot it was mostly rain with a small bit of snow mixed in. By the time we had got setup in our ground blind it had turned to just snow. We had about 30 minutes before shooting time came. A few small bucks game by right after shooting time. Then a group of 9 does came by and stopped 50-60 yards away to eat some of the cut corn. By this time it was snowing like crazy, but wasn't sticking to the ground yet. She picked the out the doe she wanted, took aim and squeezed off a perfect shot, dropping the doe in her tracks. The doe didnt move 1 foot. I was more excited and happy then she was i think. Unfortunetly the camera i had brought was not working due to all the moisture. So i was only able to take pictures with my Phone. What a great day it was. I couldnt have asked for anything better.
awesome man! I can't wait to share that moment with my little ones. Next year my son will be 8 and we might embark on that journey. Again, CONGRATS
Congrats to both of you! It put a smile on my face, just reading it. It's all about making memories, especially with our youths!
