Last spring I was able to convince my girlfriend to start shooting archery with me and she loves it. After a year of having a blast shooting her younger brother has realized how much fun it is and now wants to begin shooting with us. It's been a while since I got a youth involved in hunting and I'm having some trouble deciding where to start. Any recommendations on a good, relatively inexpensive starting bow? I've looked at the youth bow Diamond offers at $199 with a ready to hunt package including everything but arrows and that is where I am leaning currently. Any help is appreciated! It's always exciting to introduce new archers to the sport and see it grow!
I've got a very nice bowtech for sale in the classifieds. It come with everything you need including arrows. It has adjustable draw and weight. It has 40-50 pound limbs on it. It's a very nice bow that I bought for my wife and she just wasn't into it. Just a heads up if your interested ill give you deal!
My boys are 8 and 10 now and one shoots a Diamond Infinite Edge the other shoots a Bear Apprentice 2. Both are good bows.
My son has the diamond atomic and loves it. It only goes up to 30lbs though. The longer bows were just a little too awkward for him to balance. Wife has an infinite edge, its now her bow fishing bow because she wanted something more set since she's done growing. ( all 4 foot 11 of her) Haven't had a problem with either of them. How old is said kid?
Take a look at Ross archery (rossarchery.com)! They have women and kids bows specifically designed for their needs. their youth bow is called "just like dads" very good bow. My nephew bought one and loves it. Its perfect for him take a look! JUST LIKE DAD?S? | Ross Archery
He's 10. My girlfriend is shooting the Infinite Edge and it's a nice little bow, but I don't want to throw that much money into another bow not knowing if he will enjoy shooting or not. Thanks for the recommendations I will be sure to check out the Ross bow!
My 9 yr old has a Bear Apprentice 2 and my 11 yr old has an Infinite Edge. Both are good bows. The Apprentice 2 is right in your price range. Very easy to adjust draw length for a growing kid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll have to look at the Apprentice. I am shooting a Bear myself right now and I love it so that may be a good direction to go.
