Fitz I bought Justin who is also 11 a Mission Craze this year and he really likes it. It will grow with him and they could use t for years.
if you put jeff gordan in a yugo and tell him to win a nascar race it aint gonna happen lol your equipment is a good chunk of your sucsess also. you are also right as well but there is more to consider than just the shooter
I am sure that the suggested bows are nice, but does anyone else think that it is crazy to buy a $350-$650 bow for an 11 year old? What if he decides he doesnt like bow hunting? I am looking for a bow for my 11 year old right now too and no way am I going to spend that kind of money not knowing if he even likes to hunt. I think I will try to find something on craigslist instead.
Used Razor edge runs $175-$250 typically, depending on condition and accessories, etc. You can't find much that is less than that, that is worth shooting and actually fits a kid properly. Check Archery Talk, you can find what you are looking for in your price range.
To me it's worth the warranty, the ease of finding one and the pride most kids take in having something nice and new. To each their own!
I understand that you have a business and are trying to make a living selling this stuff, which is great, but I dont have the money to spend $500 on a bow. Who knows if my son will even like hunting. I liken it buying a brand new car for a 16 year old who just got his license. He could get where he wanted to go in a $1500 car just as well as he could in a $15000 car. Now he would definitely be cooler in the new car, but is it really necessary? I am still using my old Golden Eagle Hawk that I bought almost 20 years ago and it still works fine.
Read my post above, it was addressed to you. You don't need to spend an arm and leg to get a kid a nice setup that works. The key is getting something that fits correctly. Most older bows weren't really designed to fit kids that well.
I saw that, thanks WV Hunter. I will be keeping an eye out for one. Hopefully he likes it and eventually he will get my dad's bow (Golden Eagle) that he has only shot a few dozen times. His shoulder wont allow him to use it anymore and he said he would give it to him.
I would recommend the bear apprentice 2. 15-27 inch draw length, 20-60 pound draw weight, it also comes ready to shoot. The best part is, if you live in Australia like me, you need at least 50 pounds to shoot deer, so he could have this bow from when he's 10 and shooting bunnys, until he's 15 or over and shooting deer, I think it is a great bow. AUSTRALIA. THE PLACE TO BE
i would say the mission riot. little bigger frame than the craze. same adjustability and it is a nice little bow.
My daughter is 13 and got a Diamond infinite edge. She never shot before. It is great cause she can use this bow as she grows. The adjustability is amazing She started at 25 lbs and in one month is up to 34 or so. We got it at gander for 349.00 ready to shoot. I have shot I it and it is a very smooth shot and very quiet. Good luck I am sure what ever he gets he will be thrilled.
Definitely check out the Mission Craze. My 9 year old shoots one and loves it. I would also look the Riot. I probably would have gotten that one for my son but at the time it was just too heavy for him
I know this thread is from the arcives but my 2 cents anyway! My youngest son has the Diamond edge and my Daughter has the browning micro midas, she is 20 but very petite ! Both great youth bows and very adjustable!
Thanks for the input guys. I'm pretty sure my cousin picked up a bow for his son this spring. Not sure what he ended up going with though. I'll have to harass him and find out.
