I spent all summer going through all kinds of brush and I didn't get one bit of poison ivy. Now here it is a week before season and my neck is covered with it! Am I the only one or is there anyone else that has problems with the dang stuff? And what do you use to get rid of it?

I wish I could help, but I'm one of the lucky ones who isn't allergic to the stuff.

I too have to get the shot once a year but I also use the gojo wipes from the auto store to wipe down after being in the woods. Since gojo wipes are a degreaser and the oil from the poison ivy is what gets on you this will help wipe away the oils unlike water and soap.

Get some stuff called Tecnu in pharmacy
It was developed for washing Nuclear Fallout off of skin.
They found out it works for PIvy & POak get rid of oils!!
It is a cleanser and absolutely get rid of the itching and spreading. We now have to have full bottle ready to go...$14 -$15 not cheap but it does work!

I've been EXTREMELY allergic to it since I was knee-high to a grasshopper... steroid shots are the ONLY thing that will get rid of it for me; otherwise, I'll have it for a month and it'll spread to every part of my body.

Got a 60mg shot of Kenalog yesterday morning to get rid of my latest exposure.

Just an FYI... the Tecnu and other such products (such as the home remedy of washing in Dawn dishwashing liquid to cut the oil) has to be used within 30 minutes -- if not more like immediately -- of exposure to urushiol (the inflammatory "oil" that's the cause of the rash). Otherwise, I've found, you're just wasting time and money on such products.

^^ This. I keep a bottle of this in my shower at all times since it seems if I even look at poison ivy wrong I get it. Especially this year since it seems poison ivy has run rampant. Also, wash your clothes that you were wearing in this stuff by themselves. Normal washing won't get the poison ivy oils out of most clothes.

To cure it don't get in it!
    That just ain't practical....IMHO!
The Tecnu product stops the itching and spreading once you got into the Nasty Stuff!
Roid Shots + Technu is the only answer!
    Besides....
"The Cure" Don't get in it!

I get it if I look at it. Only things that really work are steroid shots and pills.
