Getting away and enjoying the scenary. Also the funny faced picture mails I get on my phone from fellow BHC members while on their stand.
I am looking forward to taking my son on his first whitetail hunt! Seeing the smile on his face like we did during turkey season when he got a shot. Even better hopefully he puts one down this whitetail season. I so look forward to that first big mature buck silently materializing from the big timber and brush, or hearing a screaming bull elk as he works his herd, the quiet approach of a big ole black bear, the pre-dawn hikes into the mountains, watching the sun come up and set, the peace of mind I get while in the woods, letting everything slow way down, talking to God, thinking about so many of you guys and wondering how all your hunts are going, looking forward to that first text of the season and all the texts thereafter while on stand, keeping up with Midwest Whitetail and Bowhunt or Die episodes, too too much to list... I believe this is gonna be a special season. They all are but this one is for my mom in memory of her life. I am gonna hunt every day like its my last on earth and keep my chin up no matter what and enjoy all the little things along the way.
Just getting back into the woods in all honesty. Perhaps more specifically...that first deer within range on stand (whether it's a shooter or not), as this really gets me going.
The experience of sitting on my own land that I have worked on for the purpose of enhancing wild life habitat and seeing the results of my efforts.
just being out in the peace and quiet of the woods, plus cooler temps and the changing fo the leaves.
Shooting a deer on my terms in my own spot. Not just relying on the ol' family camps and same old stands.
Sitting 18' in the air, the sight of that 1st deer from stand, and the unmistakeable crunch, crunch, crunch of deer on a frosty november morning.
Looking forward to the Missouri River getting back to normal so I can get to my hunting spots this fall. Cooler temps, this heat and humidity makes scouting a pain in the rear. Don
I cant wait to be sitting on a ridge at 9500 ft in the Sierra's glassing for bucks as the sun rises, nothing like it. Its not at sun rise but its still beautiful
