Pick the one thing you are looking forward to the most this season, just one....

In 2009 I hung a new stand during the rut and saw a number of very nice to great bucks from it but my stand was hung about 150 yards to the west. By the time I adjusted, the rut was winding down, the post rut was here, and deer activity decreased drastically. In 2010, I moved this set to where I thought these deer were moving based on trails and a small ditch crossing. I again saw good bucks but was still about 50 yards too far west. I had to scratch my head as I was in the location that the sign said the deer should be, but they just werent there. Now this year I'm moving that final 50 yards to "the spot" and trail camera shots this summer so far have confirmed my location. Now its up to me.

Whats the one thing you are looking forward to the most this year?

Well, if have to say I'm looking forward to my first bow kill. Simple as that. Well, more specifically, the sense of acomplishment of the scouting I've done and locating stand spots and finding deer sign to all come together (hopefully). That's what I'm looking forward to.

Looking forward to restocking the freezer. With the price of beef getting ready to increase a bunch there is a little more urgency to become "beef free".

To be in a tree by myself this year.. I was hunting and filming for White knuckle productions for the last 6 years and retired this year and this will be the first time in that many years of being in a tree alone... Gonna be fun..

Looking into this and believing there is a special moment just over the next ridge......

Then as I enter the forest I feel like a nobody, small and removed....just the way I like it.

cutting a fresh big buck track in the snow and playing a little cat and mouse with him but this is bowhunting.com so I would say I can't wait for early bow season because I have some awesome spots and can't wait to find out if I read the sign right and made the right set ups.

Possibly killing a deer off of land that I own and being able to walk back to the house and get the four wheeler to drag it to my new basement skinning area.

Other than that, I have a new spot or two that I am anxious to see what transpires with.

The same thing I look forward to the most every year....The smells.

The crisp clean smell of a frosty morning....the smell of fresh leaves on the ground....the smell of smoke drifting through the hollows from a camp fire a mile away....the smell of a rainy day in late November....the smell of a fresh blood trail.

The laughter and jokes told between friends.

Back in Michigan now, going to go back to gorilla warfare like years ago. Going to drive around, scout new areas in the mornings, cut a track, hang a stand and bushwhack one in the afternoon. At least thats my plan! Don't want to hunt the same tree twice, thats my plan.

Getting back into the woods that I grew up in as a kid. Romping around in the creek beds and climbing the same ridges and scouting the same trails I did 5 years ago. I've been removed for the past few years due to my family selling the land they had but that old property is abutted by state land that is only separated by the stream I caught my first fish in. It really brings me back when I walk that creek bed. Those woods are where I learned who I was and what life was all about.
