isnt it amazing how many monster deer sightings there are and how seldom we really connect on harvesting these nocternal giants come season.......it just amazes me that they seem to elude us com fall.
When I was in high school I shined a buck that was huge then stared hunting and saw him once from the stand. I didn't know how to score then but I would say he was pushing 190 typical.
Mid 150's while hunting.A 170 class buck in the truck head lights in Idaho about 7 or 8 years ago.The doe came up on to the gravel road, all antsy, saw us coming and wouldn't go back down the brushy hill she came out of and then all of a sudden he was there about 15 yards away. That vision wil remain in my head until the day I die.
awesome scot just awesome......i had a monster nontypical come across the road in front of me last year while on a bowhunt in pike county.illinois it was so big i dont even know he had to be 2oo" easily...a mega stud for sure. when he jumped the fence out onto the gravel road. when he landed his whole body shook like a bowl of jello.....massive,
130 I jumped him up laying by a drainage ditch not 10 ft from me. He scared the living sh%@ out of me he ran 80 yards and stood and watched us by the truck. My brother in law laughed his but off that day. WE found him at the taxidermist about a week later. Almost certainm it was him. He was shot about a half mile away on public land. supposedly
Biggest buck I've seen was a 7 point 2-3 years ago. Saw a big 8 point on the trail cam once. In person the biggest I've seen this year is a 3 point with only one antler.
Not sure how much life would change, but In Da Kitchen will be making sammiches out of his back straps if I am lucky enough to get a crack at him.
sweet.........pack me a samiccch to bro. Im hungry already, were gonna need are strength draggin these brutes out this year for sure. plus al;l the camera equipment hint hint......
I have hunted the same place for the past 9 seasons. During those 9 seasons I have seen 3, maybe 4 bucks that would go 120-130. And the crazy part I had all 3 within bow range, but for a variety of reasons I could not close the deal and kill any of them.
The biggest deer I have seen from stand scored 124, the reason I know this is because my dad killed him a week later .
From the stand, i saw a buck that would have been right around 120"-125" in Columbia county. Biggest overall was last year in Ohio though, i had him at 15 yards in front of my truck as i frantically scrambled for a camera. He had double drops and a wall of tines, I'd say at least 170".
Dang, you guys have seen some real bruisers. Here in GA if you see a 150 it's amazing. My personal biggest from a stand grossed 146". He now hangs from my wall and makes me feel like a man. I was headed to our club one night at like 11:30 and there was a beast at the end of our main road. He was probably 160 or so. Again, not 200" but like I said this is Georgia.
Largest I would say is the one in my avatar. 160 class I can't say that I ever have saw a wild free ranging deer that was bigger.
In a hunting situation, the largest whitetail I've ever laid my eyes on would probably be in the 150-160 class, and that was awhile back. Mike and I did see a solid 150's buck last fall, and caught a VERY brief glimpse of what appeared to be an even larger deer but couldn't be sure. That was the first deer I've seen over 130-140 inches in a good 4-5 years. I've seen some monsters in forest preserves, but those don't count.
I'd say a solid 140" deer. I've seen 4 or 5 of them all around the same class over the last 15 years or so. I saw one that was a solid 140" buck maybe 12-13 years ago in Huntington County PA while spotlighting in very early fall. I saw another about 7 years ago in Bradford County, PA on the farm my father sold a few years ago. It got bumped out of a drive the neighbors were doing. I was with my dad and had shot my buck the day before, so I watched my dad miss him a few times. The buck ran off our property and 100 yards later, the neighbor shot him. I got to see him up close the next day, he was the buck of a lifetime for eastern PA for sure. 4 years ago in Central NY at my buddies camp, I had a solid 140 class buck run a doe about 50 yards away from my stand. He was in way too much stuff and moving way to quick for a 50 yard shot, I never even got to take the bow off the hook. Last year I had a another 140" 10 point walk under my stand nose to the ground, 15 yards away, a solid 45 minutes before shooting light. I couldn't even see pins on his body, but I was able to see rack well enough to know he was big, and even better once he got a ways away and I could put binoculars on him, the glass gathered enough light to really see him well. The last one I have seen was last year at my in-laws place. I conservatively think he was 135" buck, when when speaking with a few buds that are better at judging size than me, he might be a 140" buck. He was still alive at the end of last season, and my cousin found one of his sheds. I'm not convinced he lives there year round, he may be there just for wintering (they travel a long ways to yard sometimes up in that part of the state). I have seen him 2x years in a row now though, and he consistently shows up the first week hard snow falls, usually very late Nov or early Dec. I'm trying my best to get on him for this year, and get to hunt the property early (and with my 08 tags) on 9/27. If I get lucky and let the air out of him on opening weekend, I still get to use my 09' tags on another buck, NY's license year is 10/1 through 9/30 :D.
I see bucks in the 160-170 range, every year. Then my pops kills them and I have to help him with the drag out :D I think this year, I'll just hunt out of his stands. I figure he owes it to me!
I have really been blessed. I have seen a handful of 170's. Missed a 180 plus with my bow (deflected off a branch I knew was there. I may post that story) Saw a 194 a few years ago. For 2 years I chased a monster in Wisconsin on public land I honestly think he would have pushed the state record bow kill.
