..... I first get a glimpse of a monster buck. It's only happened to me 2 times in my short-ish hunting "career", but whenever I first look up and all I see is bone, my heart skips a beat and I instantly know it's a shooter. Once was on a buck in the 190's and the second was probably in the 160-170's. Now all I can do is wait for it to all come together, and end with a BBD.... and possibly more than one beat skipped.
Buck fever? Yeah. That's excitement. Skip a beat? Nah. I get excited over ANY deer I know I'm gonna try to take. Hope I always do.
Yeah I'm in the any deer category. Something about the critters that any deer I see makes the ole ticker beat different.
Dont get me wrong, i get excited to see any deer. You cant eat antlers. But, for poll purposes, im talking about falling out the of treestand, cant hold the bow back, tongue hanging out excited
"Skip a beat" = Excitement. Wasnt expecting to get "that deep" into it where we have varying levels of emotion and wording for "Whoa thats a monster!"
The first deer I ever took scored about 120", my heart had never beat so hard. Granted, I took him with a rifle. I would say seeing any buck over 100" within bow range gets my heart pumping purty good. I can only imagine what I'd be feeling if I saw something over 160.
