First bow I ever hunted with I bought in 1983', a Darton SL30, still got it. I saved my money for a while to buy that bow.

As a child I took a fiberglass recurve and wooden arrows hunting. Thanks goodness no deer ever offered me a shot. Around 12 I hunted with a recurve but my first official bow was a Bear Black Bear II, around 81 82ish.

Shakespeare Sierra recurve, 52" long 45# draw. I had a mixed batch of wooden arrows with bear broadheads. I killed my first deer with it when I was 11 years old. I bet my draw length was only about 20" and god only knows how slow those arrows were travelling back then, but the deer still dropped within 50 yards. I don't know what happened to that bow over the years, but I bought an identical one off of e-bay a couple of years ago. I still have the back half of the arrow that I killed that deer with, it broke off while the deer was running. I even madea knife out of the bear broadhead, I glued a threaded adapter into the broadhead and I dilled a hole in the end of an antler tine and glued in an insert.

1982: Jennings Forked Lightning at an industry pushing 180 fps! Funny, I'm pretty sure that old, out-of-date clunker killed more game, and certainly more whitetails, than all my other bows combined. Maybe that's just because I got more picky with age but dead is dead and it doesn't matter to the critter whether it was a $1200 modern compound at 350 fps or a 30 year old clunker at 180 that did it.

It was a Indian savage 45# recurve, 30+ years ago. The one on the top hanging on the peg board.

PSE deerhunter with round wheels, aluminum arrows, 100gr 3 blade muzzys. I shot a
couple of deer with this rig and my son did also. The bow is still in the family
and I would not be afraid to hunt with this old slow bow today.

Mine was a late 70's Bear... something. It had wooden limbs, my dad killed a P&Y antelope with it in 1983. My next one was a 90's model Bear whitetail flite.

2003 Alpine Impact X-Treme. My wife has that bow now with 40-50 lb limbs. I had 70 lb limbs on it. I made one kill with it. My first bow kill a 75 lb feral hog. I got a '05 Diamond Victory shortly after that. RLoving1 has the Victory now.
