What is your favorite deer meat recipe?? Mine.. I like backstraps soaked in honey for 24 hrs then cut into small med size cubes wrapped in bacon with a tooth pick and grilled until the bacon is done....gosh my mouth is watering now..
The only thing I have gotten fancy with is jerky. I came across a killer recipe a while back and tried it, it was in instant hit both at home and at work. Mostly with steaks I just throw some seasoning on it and toss it over the charcoal.
I marinade all my venison in Italian dressing then cook it, love it this way! I made some breakfast sausage this past season which I liked a lot. I'm going after a Doe this season and grinding her up except for the straps and tenderloins and making all kinds of sausage and brats etc...
Landon that honey stuff sounds like a great Idea!! As for myself I'll brown some small little steaks In Fry Magic and then put It In a cake pan with Instant rice and cream of mushroom soup and add some water. I'll then sprinkle some lawyers over the rice and put it In the oven at 375 degrees for about an hour or so. Nice and tender when done!!
I love butterfly chops marinated in balsamic vinairgrette dressing, then breaded in italian bread crumbs and grilled over mesquite chips.
Im telling yall, this honey and bacon is the real deal...I take it to work and I have had vegetarians eat it like.
X2 Joe , this is exactly what we ate for 10 days in Elk camp last year and it tasted fantastic and thats what i've done eversince . Whats the difference between sausage and brats ? , will brats be the salami type sausage i was eating ?
I have a hard time picking just one.. I love to fry a back strap with a healthy dose of Tony's cajun seasoning.. I also like to butterfly a back strap and stuff with cream cheese and jalopeno, wrap in bacon and grill... Then the old stand by of butter, onion, pepper, and tenderloin in the skillet, served over rice...
based on what I do most often...I'd say Chili and Jerky are my favorites. ...and this tread really has me wanting another deer...
The best venison of the year comes off a coleman stove in the barn where small pieces of meat are dipped in Franks redhot and fried in butter all the while you are butcher the rest of a freash killed buck. No hunt is complete with out that first blood feed.
