I live right on the lake shore. Been out on a couple charters (never again unless my doctor will give me an rx for motion sickness)...but there is a really nice charter in NY that produced some large walleye!
Just like alot have said i have no intrest in going that far. I wouldnt say whitetail cuz i can all ready hunt that now. Im getting into turkey and would rather learn that myself. Id say top 3 big game id like to go after would be elk, bear or a big horned sheep. Location dont really matter would prefer where it wasnt freezing tho lol.
I already did my dream hunt, the thing is I did it 5 times. As a young hunter, I had read articles about the Edmonton Bow Zone (Alberta) and dreamed of going there some day. As years went by and I became more financially capable, I said I'm doing this. I went up in 2005, but didn't kill a buck. I did see some BIG bucks, but no shot opp. The experience in and of itself was amazing, but to see the body size of those deer was something I'll never forget. I was hooked, and I went up there 4 more times. I'd LOVE to go up again, but I'm gun shy after losing 3 days of my hunt to 20 below zero wind chills the last time I was there. As much as it cost's, it's a crap shoot as to what kind of weather you'll encounter. I my get some nads and go again though. lol
Actually, my brains took over my when my nads gave way. I tried it one of those FRIGID mornings and in an hour and a half I had frostbite on both hands. Those hands were in a muff with 5 handwarmers inside. This was extreme weather, a buck is not worth dying for. Bear in mind, this was tree stand hunting.
Dramamine works wonders for us. We have been on a few charters and caught multiple walleye in the 32" range. Even caught a nice steel head this summer. That is my mom's walleye.
Looks like a fun trip. I've tried dramamine and the wrist band with no luck....think I need a little something stronger.
For me it would be a Northern Ontario moose hunt/walleye fishing trip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agree with greatwhite about nothing outside of the US/Canada interest's me to the point of a dream hunt. With that I have always said I will take a Yukon Moose with the Bow.
On a Whitetail Hunt in Pike County, IL with Todd Graf or Tyler Rector would be amazing. They have the biggest deer. I would even be extremely happy to be their camera guy for a day or two.
I could easily go with a red stag hunt in NZ...easily at the tippy top of my list. Top ten would be as follows 1. Red stag (NZ) 2. Stone Sheep 3. Dall Sheep 4. Bighorn Sheep 5. Elk (CO, AZ) 6. Mule Deer (anywhere) 7. Caribou 8. Moose (AK) 9. Kodiak Bear 10. Whitetail (SK, ON, AB) I'd also like to squeeze in fishing where applicable. Salmon in AK, Trout in CO, Pike, Muskee and Walley up North.
Right now there is a group of four of us who are planning a trip to NZ. To me, it's a bit pricey, but less then I imagined. I've been looking at outfitters for the past week.
Lots of hunts for ibex and sheep oversees but my dream hunt that WILL be accomplished some day is a combination Dall/MT Caribou hunt in the Brooks Range AK
Mtn Caribou don't live in Alaska, but if you are cool with barren ground caribou then your dream can come true! Haha Yukon/NWT Dall hunts are a little more pricey but they run much better success rates than Alaska. If set on Alaska id try for draw tags in Chugach or Wrangells. The Brooks are OTC for Residents so have the most pressure and smallest Rams on average.
My dream would be one of the sheep species or a big brown bear with the bow. I say dream because there is no way I can justify that expense for a single hunt.
I might get some notes from you on the excursion if you don't mind sharing. I have wanted to do a NZ stag hunt for the last 20 years.
