IMHO when someone wants ANY hunt bad enough they can achieve it, regardless of costs. I have recently adjusted my attitude towards life from saying "someday I want to hunt ____" to "someday I will absolutley hunt____" Anything is Possible. So my imposed question is this; If at this moment, all money and obligations aside, what would be your dream hunt? For me personally it is a toss up. I'm a huge DIY guy. I have to get further and deeper than anyone has before. I love and live for the backcountry. My hunt would have to be a DIY backcountry sheep hunt for either Stone, Dall, or Argali sheep. What about you?
A few buddies and I would meet up in an "out of state" location for each of us for a week long whitetail hunt. That would be sweet..... Wouldn't even care if any of us got one!
I would love to meet up with a few hardcore guys in a spot where we could bounce back and forth between 2-3 states, hunting for whitetails the entire month of November. Now that would be my dream hunt.
i want a true russian boar in the 350# class in the swamps in s.c. or a big iowa bruiser 200" plus thats a dream for a southern boy
I love September chasing elk, which I have been able to go now the last 6 years. In 1997 I spent 3 weeks in Colorado, first was an antelope hunt then off to elk hunt.. In thinking, I would love to spend the entire 3 weeks hunting elk. Start somewhere in the northern parts like Montana or Wyoming, head to Colorado and finish up in Arizona or New Mexico.
Two hunts on my Dream List would be a Russian Boar hunt down south with a few friends and my bow. The biggest dream I have is of an Elk hunt with my bow in New Mexico, but I would take Colorado of anywhere else I could get. I could find a way to do both, but a new job offers little vacation time.
I've always said. "Dreaming is something you do while sleeping. Hunting is done when you're awake and living life!" Keep that positive attitude BC and you'll go far! The hunt I desire the most, at this point, is a big bear. If I could do it on Kodiak with bow and Mr. Swanson, then all the better.
I've been Lucky enough to Hunt different species across the US & Canada. To me a Great Hunt has nothing to do with where you are at or what you are hunting. There are many species I'd Hunt if I had the opportunity but I honestly realize I never will, unless I win the lottery or someone gives me a free hunt. Just the price/availability of tags on some hunts makes it impossible for me, but I Will be Bowhunting something as long as I am physically able Dan
My dad and his friends would do this. I got to share camp with them one year and it was the best hunt of my life even though I passed shots and took nothing home. Hearing the stories of all the guys while sharing a few Crown and Coke's was priceless!
I would love to hunt Elk in September with the bow. Shot a 4x5 several years ago with a rifle but it just didn't do it for me, hopefully I will get a trip planned in the next few years now that things are winding down with school.
That is close!! My dream hunt and it will happen is going to be stalking BIG blk bears on PW island mono a mono!!!Walt
At this point in time, I don't have a pressing "dream hunt" involving archery gear. I suppose elk is about the closest, even though I have hunted them, my "dream" is to continue to chase them with good friends for as long as I am physically capable. My next "dream hunt animal" is mtn lion with a handgun. I need to get off my but and get that doine in the next couple years.
Good stuff guys! Glad to see so many people wanting to hunt with friends/family. I can honestly say that with my age, 21, i'm still in the phase of wanting the ultimate adventure for that dream animal. I know that as I progress in life this outlook will change, as I'm sure it had with others. I just recently moved back to idaho where my dad lives. He taught me everything and being able to hunt with him again will be a pleasure in itself. Next spring we are heading down for a russian boar hunt, then hopefully soon we will finally make it up to AK for caribou. It never stops, this lifestyle, but one of my favorite quotes keeps me going "Rest when you're dead"
I want for my 8 year old daughter and I both to shoot a 200+ whitetail deer the same day! Here she is shed hunting with me and we are working on her patients for deer season. Short short patients so far!
I've got a few of them but one stands out way above them all. Be present and watch my daughter take her very 1st animal with her bow. The 2 below would come next In line. B&C blackies In Alaska on the ground. Chasing monster bulls (elk) out west or down In New Mexico or Arizona. The bottom 2 I listed would be done with a traditional bow.
I don't really know what my #1 hunt would be, so here are a few that I plan to do... 1. Week long whitetail hunt with buckeye and others 2. Wyoming elk hunt with dad (when we both have tags) 3. Caribou hunt with friends 4. Brown bear in Alaska and Alaskan Moose
I'm living my dream hunt year around and I wholeheartedly mean that. Idaho has everything in it that I ever would "dream" to hunt. I am perfectly content here and getting to hunt big bucks across N.A. like I have the past 10 years.
I like this idea...this year I will be hunting in MO and IA during a two week period in November...but next year I would like to add KS or IL to the mix to make it three. It's all about whitetails for me...although I would love to bowhunt for elk during thier rut in AZ, CO, or NM.
