Uploaded with ImageShack.us The first time I saw him, he never gave me a good broadside. The second time was much the same. Tonight at 6:30 PM, Young Brutus strolled out to never give me a good broadside, but I'd switched my tactics up on him and moved my stand, special thanks to guys whom helped me out in my first thread; Fitz and Bowsie15! Thanks to those two, I moved my stand from my beloved site that had never given me a good shot on a buck or a doe. Not tonight. First, I let a 4 point walk. As I kicked myself in the ass over it, I heard a familiar crunching and Brutus strolled on in to rub his favorite trees. What came next was pure muscle memory as the thousand arrows I've put into my targets culminated in the best moment of my deer season thus far. I released, and caught him right through both lungs with the Rage. Oddly, Young Brutus wasn't much of a bleeder. I found a couple of drops before I called in my Uncle and Brother, whom grabbed my cousin's yellow labrador, Toby. Toby and I have a history, as I like to drive by his house slowly, and he likes to run into my pickup like a moron, well, Toby, you can damned drive my truck if you want to because that dog led me right to my buck. What came next was the four of us getting lost in the woods and me dragging Brutus damn near a mile and a half. It was the best walk I've taken all year. Third time's the charm, baby.
Congrats! Just got finished reading through your thread from this morning, happy you got the buck you were after. Kudos to Fitz and Bowsie for helping you out!
Thanks again, everyone. Now to take a day off the stand and try to make it through the work day. I'm sore, pulled him through some majorly thick woods last night.
Man, I really can't thank you guys enough and I'm very happy I created an account to share stories with all of you. The sad side to these forums is they make me want to be hunting, but I told my uncle today at work I'd let my newfound hotspot cool off so he could hopefully harvest a deer this weekend. The old track and drag really lit a fire under his ass.
GeorgiaBoy Nice to see you used some the awesome tips that are made available from a lot of good hunting people that are a part of this hunting family here @Bowhunting.com. Congrats on your buck and good luck with the rest of the season that becomes shorter day by day. Rocky
