I hung a stand on Sunday with my son, hunted it this morning. Saw 1 lost looking doe fawn around 8 (mama probably got shot), then at 10:30 this 5pt came in. LOL, I love the 1.5's - they are so clueless. He walked right on top of a fresh scrape (that wasn't there on Sunday) and actually ran into the licking branch .... and had no idea it was a scrape. I snapped a photo with my phone just as he ran into the branch and turned to see what poked him in the ribs while standing in the scrape. :D I almost started laughing, he never even smelled the branch or scrape, just waltzed on through like a dumbfounded teenager with no clue.

He's 25yds away, can't really see his rack in the pic, it was a nice little basket. He'd better wise up or he ain't gonna make it! (I heard 21 gunshots this morning). At least I know he's not the one that made the scrape :)

Mike, I really hope both you and your son score on that property. That is a really cool pic.

Thanks guys. Yeah I hope we get on some too. Next week we'll head to WV for the opening week of rifle family tradition...should be good.

Of course my son just turned 12 last week....so he's beginning to act like those 1.5's a little...LOL :D

Here he was on our last hunt this past weekend on opening day of rifle. Guns banging all around us, and after 5 hours with not 1 deer sighting. He was pretty alert the first 3 hrs, then it got rough on him I know. I let him sleep about an hour...was better than hearing the whining about it would be better to be playing xbox :D

I hear you about the 1.5's...

Ill get pictures of them on me cams visiting scrapes, but ive seen them in real life walk right through them in the rut and do nothing.

    Good luck Mike.

Heck Tyler is always napping while hunting when he first gets to his spot in the afternoon. We hunt on the ground and usually in a spot you can't see very far. When we sat together he was always sleeping. When he started hunting by himself... I figured he would sleep though most hunts. LOL I asked him a couple years back how he could sleep when a deer can show up anytime. He said the pheasants wake him. Now you can imagine the look I gave him. He is a light sleeper and said when the deer start moving the rooster pheasants will crow. He knows a deer is on the move and gets ready. I was like... yea right !! I've been hunting for 30 years and don't think so. We have only really had pheasants move into our area for the last 5 - 6 years... about the time Tyler started hunting. I would hear them crow but never put that connection together. I started paying attention... Damned if he wasn't right. I chuckle ever time a here a rooster crow when bowhunting now. The pup taught the old dog a new trick. LOL

I still won't take naps while hunting though !!!!!!!! :)

Oh almost forgot... one morning while waiting for first light... he layed down on the ground for a quick nap. Woke up to a slimy salamander crawling across his face !! Another reason I don't take naps !!!!! LOL

You didn't do that to Tyler did ya Tim :D

When I was young, Uncle pecker puller (called him that because he was always grabbing my leg right above the knee and squeezing the crap out of it) woke up with a pockett full of deer poop in deer camp.

Man do I have some stories about him.

LOL Tim! The boy taught you something. Maybe you need to start taking naps, I mean you have a ready made alarm!!
I hear ya, I can't sleep on stand very often either. Only time I ever have is if I'm on an all day sit and get really tired. A 10-15min power nap does me well. Good luck to you guys too...

LOL Silver, are you related to Germ? Uncle trigger, uncle pecker puller...:D
