Read about the bears crying about playing outside and safety. NFL got it right that football is meant to be played outside. I hope the whole dome collapses. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5926661
Any links to these people weeping on camera? Are any of 'em threatening to retire, if they don't move it back indoors?
Speaking of Favre, does anyone else ever wonder how the pick up game plays out in the Wrangler commercial? Does Favre pick those average joes apart, or does he struggle to find the right balance of wanting to win without trying to hard. Is his ego too big to allow him to let off against the average joe. Or does he take a little off, throw some soft passes that end up getting picked off. Some good natured trash talking ensues, Favre begins to become frustrated and really starts zipping the ball in there, resulting in dropped passes, a loss, and Favre crying at the end? Maybe the tears start on the ride home in his truck. He returns home, its obvious he has been crying, so his wife asks whats wrong. He replies, "Nothing!", as he storms upstairs. One of the kids whats to know whats happening, and her reply, "Your Dad's crying again" in an annoyed tone as she throws her arms up. Does anyone else wonder how that plays out? Real, comfortable, jeans.
the way i took it was making sure a field that was never inteded to be played on in these conditions was safe, i think the vikes were concerned too http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...players-are-concerned-about-frozen-field-too/
I don't get it. Does the rest if the outdoor stadiums have some sort of underground heat to keep them thawed? Also, from what I understand, they are laying tarps on the field with heat coils under them to thaw the ground. (although I'm not sure how effective this will be by the time the 4th quarter rolls around)
The Minneapolis news said last night that all cold weather NFL stadiums have heat coils underneath the turf to keep it thawed, except Kansas City and Buffalo. I would be a little concerned about playing on the equivalent of concrete too. One reason I HATE the term "frozen tundra of Lambeau Field" Its heated!
bottom line... cant grow grass in the winter. so even with heated coils field is more of alike a crunchy frosty relative of grass. solution.... longer cleats, shorter steps and a little luck ;-) different teams do different things to trick the players (never works), fans and tv (always works) most effective method is spray paint. yes spray paint! make the field look green and aerate the heck outta it. gives the field some texture and tricks the cameras. Lambeau prob does the best job outta any at this!
A frozen field in artic temps equal serious pain and increased chances for injury. And from what I have seen over the last few years, everyone is getting increasingly interested in reducing injuries. If anyone has ever been picked up and slammed on the concrete , they will understand what I am saying.
I was wondering if he was snapping pictures of his junk and emailing it to all the wives and girlfriends of the guys he was playing with. You just took it in a little different direction.
