A couple weeks ago I was asked If I would donate to the United Way and help sponsor a 4 mile walk and race. I said sure. I was then asked by my daughters pre school teacher who was putting this thing on If I would also like to do the run? I said no way as I haven't ran a distance this long In probably 20 years. Well she talked me Into It. Her pretty eye's got me. I'm a sucker!! [IMG] Anyhow I placed 2nd In my age group (35 to 39 years old). Ran 4 miles In 38 minutes. My goal was not to walk none and I didn't and I wanted to do It In under 40 minutes. I actually kept the exact same pace till the last mile. I ran the last mile In 7 minutes so I guess I could've pushed myself harder. Years ago I ran track In my HS years. My best mile then was 4:56 or 5:05, I can't remember which one It was. I was more of a short distance runner as I hated running long distances and still do after today. lol! Damn I'm getting old. I can tell you this I NEVER realized my age and how out of shape I am now compared to my younger days till today. None the less I'm ok with how I did today. Specially without much training at all.

Great job! I love running but haven't done much the last few months. I need to start again.

For having not been running, to run that time and a last mile at 7min is awesome Steve.

I'm 21 and not in that that bad of shape, and I don't want to run 4 miles at that pace with a 7 minute last mile. Nothing to hang your head about there.

Nice work Steve! I used to run track & cross country in HS too. My fastest Mile was 5:03, but it wasn't good because it was my first mile in a 5K. I haven't run for ages, but I too got roped into a 4mile run on the 4th of July... we'll see, I guess....

    Nice run man.

I'm 23 and have no desire to do that. I ran a mile about a month ago and that was enough!!!

Awesome job dude. This going to be a new hobby? Lol

I used to run and run when I was a young man. In highschool I was a 2 min half miler. In the Army I ran the mile in combat boots under 5. In college gym class I knocked off the reigning cross country guy at the school. NOW... it's hard to walk a mile with all my recent problems. This 80 extra pounds I'm hauling doesn't help. LOL

Good job Steve, my buddy is big into running and is currently training for a marathon. His last training run was 16 miles. I can't see enjoying it but he loves running.

    Now that's Impressive!!

Good luck Fitz!! The same gal who put this on Is trying to talk me Into doing another 4k around the 4th. I told her I probably wouldn't mind doing It again and try shooting for a 35 minute time. Chances are though I'll either be working or be In northern Minnesota on a family camping/fishing trip possibly that weekend. Thanks guys!!

Good going man. I lift weights but need to get the cardio going again. I'm sure I would have coughed up a lung and left it pulsating on the road if I ran as far as you did.

Lol! I might have left part of a lung at the finsish line. I started coughing some about 10 minutes after the race was over. Thanks for the kind words Chris.

I plan on doing more bike riding Ed this summer. Thanks for the advise.
