We have 26 (buy 25 they throw in a free one) and they hit 7 weeks today. The last broilers were cornish x's and they dressed out at a little over 6lbs at 8 weeks. This time were are going Freedom Rangers . They are a lot more active and will actually walk around LOL. I think they also handle the heat much better. Beautiful chickens too. I am thinking they will dress out around 5lbs, maybe close to 6. I also think the breast will be a bit smaller and more in proportion with their bodies. The cornish X's were a new cross that tyson was trying and their breasts were like porn star breasts, bigger than you thought possible but real :D. We get another batch in mid august.
I've never been one for girly drinks (they either taste crappy or make me sick) and always head for the beer and liquor, but I had a couple drinks in Margaritaville that I can see were made for this kind of weather. Bama Breeze "You can play it cool" with this frozen concoction made with Margaritaville® Premium Jamaican Silver Rum, Cruzan® Vanilla Rum, orange juice and Island Oasis® Mango and Coconut Mixes. I'm not sure what the right ratio is yet, but poured over a glass of finely blended ice, this thing is great for sipping on hot days in a deck chair on your lawn.
Well it was 126° at work last night. Even had a buddy quit due to the heat. The weekly forecast looks disgusting.
I work on a golf course and of course I hate warm weather. I doesa make me appreciate the cool falls and winter!
That's what's great about living at 2800 ft in Virginia, It get's hot, it get's cold, but never an Extreme either way, we'll hit high 90's, and single digits from time to time, but mostly it's bearable. Humidity in the summer and Wind in the winter mean a lot though.
We had temps of 118 last Monday and it cooled off to 112 on Tuesday here in Southern Indiana the air was thick .......its humid as a ***** right now at 10:15 pm i can only imagine what its gonna feel like tomorrow .
I'm a little ***** and sitting inside all week. Lot more humid than I can stand. Where is that smilie? Yep...there I am.
We worked outside for a bit (playing with chickens, pulling weeds, cutting up a tree and such) then we went to the lake and swam and shot a carp for good measure. It's the first time I've swam with my dog. I made her retrieve me, it was a blast.
Moorhead, MN was the hottest, most humid spot on the entire planet briefly yesterday, with a heat index of 134 F, a new Minnesota record. http://www.startribune.com/blogs/125847178.html
