Interesting and I am wondering are you willing to go bankrupt? If the family can't afford to take care of them then what? Do we just let them die? Have you had to take care of an family member? I mean full time until they meet the end?
I’ll shake your hand on that one, the right is just as corrupt as the left, it is truly a uniparty, just look at the way they unite to try and defeat President Trump. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
No I have not ever had to take care of a family member full time, although I would work my butt off trying to care for them in the best possible way, and hopefully my other family members would do the same. I am blessed with a good family and there are good people in my local community that generally care for each other as well. I understand that it isn’t that way for everyone. But that doesn’t give justification to the govt to barge in and play puppeteer over people’s lives. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I have 3 times now: Step Dad's father ALCS Father in Law Cancer Mother in Law Cancer All three times we were the main care givers. If you go through it(I pray you don't) I would be interested to here your views after.
I am sorry to hear that germ, I really mean that. Here is my ultimate view, no system of government will hold up and take care of me. My faith is in God and not man. So as I sit and argue here, sometimes I forget about that. This broken world will never offer a perfect system, conservative or liberal. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Incredibly well said. If it is going to exist, social security should be optional to participate, not mandatory. Personally, I think in 30 years, a mutual fund would have yielded far better return on the $4000 I was forced to pay into Social Insecurity this year.
I appreciate your willingness to not only share personal examples but also to recognize that we are in a catch-22. First; we should separate disability/long term care SS from standard age-based SS. While the money ostensibly goes into the same pot; the criteria for disbursement are totally different and I don't know too many people who are 100% opposed to some sort of disability safety net. I also understand that a large percentage of our population has either failed to plan or planned their futures poorly. But that too is the fault of the USG. The government forces us to "safe keep" our money then gives it back to us; all the while not providing us information on how to be financially free. Consumer math is not taught in public school. At all. Just off the top my my head, I went to appx. 6 different elementary schools, 2 different middle schools (only one high school) spread over multiple public school systems in 2 different states. In none of these school systems was I taught anything about compound interest, debt/debt management, borrowing, lending, etc. Not even how to balance a checkbook! None of this involves anything more complex than mult/division, percentages, fractions, and decimals. 14 year olds can handle these concepts, and these are things that affect each and every one of us. Trig? Calculus? The percentage of people who use complex/higher mathematics is minuscule; and should only be taught in AP or college. Instead, the USG encourages us (society darn near demands it) to bury ourselves under a mountain of student debt (owed to guess who; the USG) pursuing 7+ year social science degrees with job prospects that have less earning potential than a guy who goes to a 2 year vocational school and learns a trade; graduates with little/no debt and job opportunities everywhere (until the robots take over the world.) I'm depressing myself. Going to grab my de-badged cooler, fill it up with ice and overpriced hippie beers with names like "Hoppy Ending"and go fishing.
This country needs a big dose of Darwinism. Yea yea germ save your riddorick I know all the people that need saving and all the sad stories that prove I'm a piece of $hit for even saying it. But what will be left after a few years will be the best strongest and hardest working. Leading us finally towards a utopian society and I don't mean the nonsense that liberals cry about where everywhere is a safe space and we are all blue or grey and smiles buy products.
That is easy to say for someone who probably doesn’t have people that “don’t make the cut” living in their house. I wonder how you would feel about that if you wrecked your car and were paralyzed today, or your wife/kids etc. we are people, not robots. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I am not the only one who thought of it! I am not sure if I should be excited or accept the depressing reality that I watched far too many movies in my dorm room drinking warm beer cause I didn't have a Yeti cooler to keep them in.
How are we talking about social security in here now? I thought we were talking about blowing up our coolers and how if the NRA said it, it must be true?
We stayed on topic for 8 1/2 pages. That’s got to be a record. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
