Yep I know what it was and it was NOT the start--- only a continuation of previous Turkish wars...

Are you an absolute idiot? War in Afghanistan was 2001, we invaded then he left, what is your point?

Also CS Monitor is a terrible source.

Yup not the start, but their wars are no more bloodier than the ones the western powers have inflicted on others.

We looked for the guy for over 9 years in the wrong country. If he wasn't there, then why were we?

You can trust that I'm no idiot. If you want to get into a name calling match go right ahead, I'll refrain.

The problem is, you can't kill an ideology. We got too focused in trying to define and eliminate potential future threats which led us to freeing and policing an entire nation(s). We should have done specialized operations to destroy terrorist weapons caches and training facilities, then boogie back home for deer season.

No argument here. I'm personally for isolating that entire region from the rest of the civilized world. No trade and no aid, but we all know that will never happen.

So you're saying on top of being at war with iraq and afghanistan, as soon as we found some evidence that he was in pakistan we should have gone to Pakistan? Thats a great idea. What kind of world do you live in. He went dark, and it took years to relocate him.

We were in Afghanistan because we invaded that country to FIND HIM. When we didn't, we couldn't just leave a country in ruins and have it become a hotbed for terrorist activity again. Colin Powell stated " you break it you buy it". We've learned from other wars not to simply get out once we've invaded. You know kind of like the previous Afghanistan wars. I can absolutely trust that you are absolutely uneducated about these wars and remaining ignorant of how the world works.

So again, like ive stated before, we were in Afghanistan because Osama was there, we kept looking for him because we didn't know where he was. We thought he might still be there. When we found out he wasn't, we were still busy rebuilding that country. Iraq had nothing to do with this. Either politician republican or democrat would have pulled out.

I'm not getting into this argument... But:

What's with all the name calling? Have a civilized conversation and explain your facts/views without insulting someone who has different facts/views. You're acting like a child.

Seems like the "you break it you buy it" was the entire point of my original post. Obviously we did not restore Iraq to a point where they could defend themselves from Al Qaeda. My point was we DID NOT FINISH THE F'N JOB, now everything our boys worked for was for not!

If you feel the need to name call and be a complete prick, you can do it with someone else because I'm done with you.

sometimes it is best to just cut your losses

Actually the point of this thread was to blame the president. I wouldn't get so irritated if you would research your facts and come up with a legitimate argument. You blamed the president because he didn't stay, yet any other president wouldn't have stayed.

If we were doing a better job at destroying Al Qaeda, maybe Iraq wouldn't have to be considered a loss.

we did destroy them. research the war, we are great at destroying them. Iraq and Afghanistan are two different wars. Not quite sure but I don't think Al Qaeda came into play in Iraq until many more years down the line. We were fighting insurgents.

And if we would have not started the Iraq war, we could have focused more on Al Qaeda:biggun:

We basically destroyed AQ including much of their top leadership. Again we allowed them to rebuild. Read about Afghanistan around 2004.

Now we are just letting them rebuild and giving them some leaders to start with...
