Got home from Austin Sunday and my buddy Chantz was not feeling good. Took him to the vet who told me his lungs had fluid in them. Gave him antibiotics and told me to take him back Friday if he wasn't better. Yesterday he was having trouble breathing so I took him back. Vet checked him out good and informed me that his heart was giving out. Gave me more medication to give him to hopefully strengthen his heart. Brought him home and went to help a neighbor work on his tractor. While straightening a part, I smashed my finger real bad. Yesterday afternoon I went to the clinic as my finger had swollen to the point I couldn't bend it and the pain had spread to the fingers around the one I smashed and into the back of the hand. Results: I had broken a phalanx lengthwise. Doc gave me some pain killers and taped it to the middle finger. Last night Chantz couldn't stand up and was panting like he had just run 50 miles. I called the vet and met him at the clinic. He suggested that we could put Chantz under and siphon the fluid out of his lungs and w/antibiotics and heart medication could give him a chance of more time with us. As he gave him the anesthesia, Chantz let out his last breath. The other dogs at the clinic started howling as Chantz passed. It was a long drive home without my buddy. When the wife heard what happened she cried herself to sleep. Chantz was a 10 year old Rott/Lab mix. He kept unwanted guests away from the house, yet was very playful and loving with the family. He was a member of our family and will be sorely missed.
sorry to hear about that man, it's always hard to let go of a good dog. They don't call it man's best friend for nothing!
Sorry to hear about your loss. People I can usually care less about. But someone's pet really breaks my heart. My condolences.
IV, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a good friend is tough. Best wishes to you and yours. C
Sorry to hear of your buddy and your finger. Just know that time heals the heart and tomorrow will be brighter than today. All the best.
So sorry to hear about your dog Mark. Also, wishing you good luck and a speedy recovery with that finger.
Sorry to hear that! I've experienced that long drive home myself. I was the one crying myself to sleep that night though.
Sorry to hear Mark, there is nothing like the love a dog brings to a family It always seems like everything happens at once, hope the finger is getting better and sorry for the loss.
A very sad thing to experience and sorry to hear about yours. Been there done that a few times, not fun, not fun at all.
