Saturday went and and quickly checked my one camera that has easy access on the corner of one of my plots just expecting to see does, smaller bucks and the one nice 4x4 that i have had pics of all summer and to my surprise had another visitor!!! must have gotten hungry with all the beans coming off as of late. Plus has a little something extra on his right side
I finally got a buck on camera, hoping he sticks around now that hes antsy. Maybe hell slip up this weekend....
I plan on getting out at least once this weekend. Which day and what time of day hasn't been decided yet.
I just put a rage 2 blade through a good doe, I'm still in the tree, looked like a good shot, I see blood everywhere from the tree stand and she bout took a dirtnap right where I shot her! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Checking some cams tomorrow and formulating a plan for next week's rut vacation. Early in the week is supposed to be hot, but Thursday on looks awesome.
I'm getting new bucks on camera as of late. One more sit in the morning in PA then off to MO for a week! Can't wait to sit out there for a week.
My target buck was day walking on the 21st, 26th and today. I'm headed in after him in the morning...
Well guys, I should have put 130 points on the board today. I had a solid 3 year old 10 point at 5 yards and couldn't make it happen. He came in on the wrong side of my tree and the shot was just too awkward to try. I did end up seeing bucks of 4, 7, 8 and 10 points...along with 5 does and 11 turkeys. At last light a neighbor shot a little 5 pointer and the wounded deer stood under my stand for 5 mins before walking further into my property. I convinced the old-timer to leave it overnight and I offered to point them in the right direction tomorrow morning. The buck was quartering toward him and the shot was low. I think he's going to die slowly...infection or yotes. Hard to tell, but that's insides hanging out midway back.
I had a close call over the weekend too. I watched a 4 pointer come in from 50 yards out. Due to the path he chose, the only chance I would have had to draw would have been when he passed behind a tree 10 yards in front of me. He chose to come around the wrong side though and ended up right under my stand, looking at me. If not for my harness, I could have jumped him. He studied me for a while then went on his way. He finally spooked a little on the way out when I had to move a little bit to get a better view. It's fun to get the heart rate up even if no shot is available.
I hate posting pics of pics, but my computer is dead! This guy started showing up on one of my cams. He's always there an hour after dark though.
Trying to get it done in MO but the weather has not cooperated much 80 today. So far I saw 4 bucks and 3 doe but nothing big enough yet. Hoping for the weather change tomorrow. 3little guys were dogging a doe this morning and a decent one was following a doe nice and easy at noon. He was at 42yrds and about 110ish.
It didn't break loose for me today. Pics show all the movement is still at night. We'll be 20° cooler tomorrow, so I'm crossing my fingers for some action.
The buck seem to be starting to cruise here. Had a nice one pass by behind me, on the neighboring property. That's the second time that has happened to me in the last week. I think tomorrow I may head to the woods straight from work.
This failed rut vacation had my trigger finger itching pretty bad. I took my frustration out on this poor decoy at the end of the morning sit.
