I'm licensed and have a pocket full of tags! The kid that got me my license was bragging about already getting his buck for the year. He shot it at 6 this morning, with a shotgun, had to put his beer down to aim, and was done in time for work at 8. I had no comment for the dude...
Yep, I'll be on a 10 acre property that holds a small doe group and is the main travel route for bucks going to food. Target bucks include...
I got my treestand moved and set up on the next piece of property that I want to hunt. I'm not sure if I like my treestand. It's kind of a pain to find a tree that works and then trim out shooting lanes. Have to wear camo and a harness and pay close attention to scent control and wind direction. With my blind, I can pop it up wherever I want (as long as the ground is reasonably flat), no special clothes is required other than a black shirt/coat and it helps to contain scent. Of course the down side is that you are at eye level with the deer.
2 more out of range does this morning. It's supposed to be 15° cooler this coming week, so maybe I won't be a sweaty mess in the stand!
Going to Hancock county in Illinois Oct 8-10. Should come back with at least a doe. Start the countdown Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
This 9.5 pointer just started showing up on the new farm. He's been there every other morning for the last 2 weeks. My dad will be out early October for his first Ohio hunt, so I'm hoping this buck sticks around a while.
Final pull of cameras today in the rain. The guy I would really like to get a chance at showed up again on two cameras. Now to wait for the rest of the week....come on Saturday!
Heading out for a doe only sit tonight, then probably nothing till opening morning. I would have preferred to sit opening evening but I dont make the rules...
I hate it when nobody asks me what to do when making rules. Oh well, good luck on tagging a doe. I'm still patiently waiting for the wind to change direction before I can get out again.
What has everyone been up to lately? Anybody getting any stand time in? The wind is finally supposed to be from a favorable direction tomorrow. I'm hitting the stand as soon as possible after work.
My main farm is hosting a big family reunion, so I'm giving the place a couple weeks to settle down. I will probably be on doe patrol at a smaller property on Saturday.
Settled in for my last doe only sit, haven't seen any bucks anyway getting nervous about this spot this year. I saw a doe already today just out of range, hopefully she finds her way back around
