As far as .380s not "getting the love" on forums... ;)

It's not much unlike us constantly talking about a Carbon Matrix but not giving the love for a Prohawk or Ruckus (or Mathews Creed vs. a Mission anything...) :D

I remember when I was purchasing my LCP... the idiot behind the counter was trying to downplay my caliber of choice and kept saying "If you shot me with that I'd just keep coming!"

I told him I qualified expert with my pistol in Military Police school (so he wouldn't have to worry about me maiming him) and politely offered to shoot him twice dead center mass and if he kept coming he could have my next three paychecks... needless to say, I held onto my money. Better yet... he shut up. ;)

Matt, you're carrying this IWB, right? The only reason I could justify swinging the $ (even on Gunbroker, it's still almost $200 more than the Bersa) is if I could use a back pocket holster, or a front pocket holster, but I was reading on a few forums that guys didn't like pocket carrying the P238 due to it being more of a mini 1911 and its weight. Thoughts?

I'll probably still go to GM again and handle it.

I know nothing about this pistol, but held one the other day, and it felt very light and really nice for the money. Chambered in 9mm 4" x 5.7" ... Just thought I would throw it out there at you while your searching... I still have my heart set on a Shield.

Before you buy, handle a Kahr CM9. Added benefit of 9mm, pocket carry is possible although I prefer iwb and once broken in they are just a great little piece. .9" slide width, single stack, and right around $400 bucks. It also is known to have the bet of the long trigger pull pocket guns.

If you can handle one at least give it a shot before making a purchase.

I have a Ruger LCP and agree with Tembry, the trigger is a pain...however, that gun is a defensive weapon as are most handguns and more than likely I won't be shooting it more than 10-15 feet. I am confident that I can point any handgun at that range and hit center mass. I carry my LCP about 10% of the time.

Thanks for the input guys. I still have time to try out more, so these are all good starting points.

I am not an expert by far but Britney and I went pistol shopping today. I was hoping to run across a Bersa Thunder Ultra Compact 9 mm. Couldn't find one.

We looked at the Ruger LCP 9mm, Glock 19 compact 9mm, Glock 26 sub compact 9mm, Kahr, Bersa Thunder 380 and the Bersa Thunder CC 380.

The Ruger LCP - just plain sucked. Not fun to hold, trigger squeese sucked and two diffferent guys told us they have had issues with them.

The glock 26 and Kahr were just too short in the grip. I nor Britney liked it on account of that.

I liked the Glock 19 but it had too fat of grip for Britneys liking although she liked it better then the others so far.

I had them pull the Bersa thunder out next and right away I liked it. Fit nice in my big hands and pulled up nice. Trigger pull seemed pretty decent. I handed it to Britney and she held it. She smiled and said this is the one.

The Bersa Thunder CC was nice also but we definitely like more of a sight.

I bought the Bersa Thunder 380 and 300 rds of ammo. $ 300 for the pistol and $ 108 for the ammo. With gift cards... $0 out of my pocket. :)

    Just an update.

I waited until this weekend to see if the local shop would get more guns in since they were pretty picked through. They didn't. In fact, they had less :(.

The matte gray PF9 was gone, and all that was left was a camo version. The Thunder was still there as well. I held both again. Thunder is large, feels better, better trigger, etc,. I'm just worried about only having a .380 when I'm not really gaining an size advantage with the Bersa. I ALMOST went and and said I would take it ($274 for the Thunder, $285 for the Kel Tec), but I'm so cheap, I had a hard time doing it. The guy said they are pretty confident they will have fairly large shipment coming in on Friday, so I thought I would wait until next Saturday. If nothing else is in, I'm probably going with the Thunder. I still may since I have 3 hours until they're closed :D

    I have

    Walther P22

    S+W Airweight 38 special 5 shot revolver

    Sig Sauer P238 380 automatic

    Springfield XDs 45 ACP

    Taurus Judge 45 Colt/410

Sig and Springfield are the best for carry of that bunch (for ME). I can shoot them accurately WELL past 21 feet. The sig is a joke to carry as its so small yet go to YouTube if you doubt the power of a 380..........dear lord it's a nasty little gun. I don't care fo manual thumb safeties as its one more thing you need to remember when your life is being threatened, pull it and squeeze and nothing happens and at best you panic and figure it out or you don't and you get killed. I don't like my wife carrying manual safeties. I want her to be able to grab point and squeeze trigger until it stops going bang if god forbid she ever needs to save her own life. The s+w is a simple carry as well but the accuracy is not there past 10 yards. GREAT gun for ease and plenty of power at realistic range though. The P22 is for plinking but I can get off 10 shots in the blink of an eye so it would be better then nothing. The judge is wicked sick crazy awesome fun as hell to shoot and maybe the best home defense gun I have but a bit large to carry.

Thats the exact gun that I CC.. I have pocket carried it for some time, but much rather having IWB holster. Much more comfortable in my opinion. Very pleased with the little gun as well.

Changed plans slightly. Really have no need to buy a carry weapon for the time being (honestly would only be able to have it on me about 10% of my time during the work week, and during that 10%, only about 1% am I actually in a situation where I need something really small on my person.

Think I'm getting an XDm 9mm. Want the 19+1, should be great for in the truck and around the home, fun to shoot, cheaper to shoot, accurate, and if I get the 4.5" version, it can still be carried in most situations other than summer and dress clothes if I had to. IF, big IF, any mag caps are instated that would affect handguns, this would be a good time to purchase, too.

My buddy just sent me his FFL, so I'm good to go on gunbroker. I'm tired of waiting for local stores to get shipments in.

That's honestly a great plan man, XD's are great guns, I know if I didn't have my Taurus PT92 (never a problem for those Taurus bashers) I'd be doing something similar in a large capacity Bersa 9 or .45 for truck, house and such.

Nice choice Matt. I have an xdm 3.8 compact and it is very accurate and shoots anything I have ever put in it.

Local shop had like five...not sure how I missed them. Had the three different lengths, and two color options. Had 9mm, .40, and .45. About $25 more than Buds. Will probably purchase tomorrow. Need to decide on 3.8" vs. 4.5".
