i got a question for you techies i was shootin off the back deck downhill at my block target at about 40 yrds the hill is sloped and flattens out in the bottom so i set-up and was shooting but i was having to hold my 3-pin high on the target and to the left to hit the center target. is it the sight or the fletchings on the arrow. i use the beman ics bowhunter 400's w/ a 100grain field tip. i will take any advice or suggestions.

i don't think i'm a techie, but from what your describing it sounds like a sight issue. i'm assuming you have 3 pins, 10 yards/20yards/30yards and you used the bottom one to shoot at 40 yards? if this is the case then holding high at that range would be fine, however holding to the left or right to compensate tells me that either your sights are off, or your pulling your shots at release. this is just my guess, good luck

Could also be a level issue.

Sounds like a 3rd axis issue to me.Assuming you are using a level. That would explain the left right issue. If you have no level, then you are canting the bow more or less than normal from that angle.

As far as yardage goes, shoot it as if it were level. If the level ground is 40,put the 40 yard pin dead on and bend at the waist.

no boys i aint got a level or a 4th pin i got the 3-pin sharp shooter by trophy ridge but its got the capability to slide left to right and up and down. i think the problem was me cause i dont usually shoot from an elevated position especially at that distance but there was a cross wind and i looked after i came in and put this thread up that my fletchings was wearing on one or two where i been shooting them so hard.alot of stuff played into it but i would like to know if any of ya'll adjust you sight up/down when you shoot from an elevated position?

    No.

Hold dead nuts on the bulls-eye and always bend at the waist when shooting from an elevated position- do not drop your arm.

With your 3 pin sight what distances do you have your pins set at? I'm not sure what bow your shooting but you should be able to have your pins set at 20-30-40. I have never found the need for a 10 yard pin as my 20yard pin is just as accurate at 10 as anything.

i figured it out it was me. i was pulling my shot but just like any hunter my first thought was equipment instead of pointing the finger at myself. i went out today and let a few go they was on the money.my pins havent been set i been shooting the factory setup. they been on the money.i just havent shot past my 3rd pin distance wise but lately i been getting this huge doe on the game cam eating my grapes so i been plotting on this doe so i set up my target down there and firing off the back deck at least a 30 degree angle at a little over 40yrds. i was experimenting w/ different arrows and different grain field tips.like i said it was my fault i was pulling the shot!
