What's your opinion on putting out yardage markers (surveyor tape) around trees. My main land I've never used them. There's not a ribbon on a single tree. I know the yardages to every tree in the woods from hunting there so long. But I put a setup awhile ago in a place that I'm not familiar with to hunt every now and then. So I decided to mark some lanes so I knew how far everything was so I didn't have to range everything while I was hunting.

I sat there yesterday afternoon and had this little dude come in. He hung around for about 10 minutes. At one point he was sniffing my 20 yard marker pretty good. He kind of moved his head back and was acting like he got a whiff of something. I put the dang thing out about a month ago and sprayed it down. Its since rained about 7 inches. ???????? Other than that he didn't seem alarmed at all and my scent was blowing right at him at one point.

Knowing the distance can be the difference between making a good shot or fling ing an arrow and hoping it worked out. Yardage markers can help with that split second decision on which pin to use. Happy hunting!

I used to before I got a range finder. It worked very well but now I just range a few trees and land marks before hand.
