Where they gets the pics of these giants.....The deer that was on the cover of the August 09" issue is pretty awesome. I took a pic of this same deer a few miles where I hunt here in Wisconsin! He is a giant!

I don't know, I don't read the mag! I was on this side of the raod last week checking these deer out, the guy came out and we started talking. He is a taxidermist and I went into his shop and we staerted talking, and he showed me the Cover and said that is this deer. The buck is 9 years old! He has another buck on a the cover of the October issue... here is another buck in the same pen with the other one, there are also 2 more big ones in the same pen!

I wished I'd seen this thread before you answered your own question.

Honestly... I was going to say "Inside deer farms"... ;)

I always wondered how the magazines got so many cool pictures of giant bucks.

Then i learned all about game farms about 8-9 years ago.

Pretty simple to figure it out now.

Maybe the picture on B & BH is messed with, but I don't think that is the same deer, look at the browtines and all the junk on his right antler? Maybe i'm missing something but i don't see the connection.

Eric, its the same deer, trust me! I'm headed up there in a few, if he didn't drop his rack, I'll get a better pic for ya! Its not a deer farm, he doesn't sell them or anything, keeps em as pets! Hell, I was petting them!

I've known about deer farms since I started bowhunting. The farm I started out on had a neighboring farm that raised deer and I used to go over there between morning and evening sits looking at the bucks in the pen. That was 21 years ago. Now I have a friend that is deer farming and I'm a part owner of a couple of the deer. It's pretty cool and something else that has to do with my favorite animal.

Charlie Alsheimer gets the majority of his pics from his fenced property in NY. Some of the pictures in magazines are of wild deer, but many are from game farms. It would just be too difficult to try to get some of the pics they get on wild deer. Also there just aren't that many big bucks out there that will pose for you and let you snap away.
