I LOVE Bowhunting as much as anyone, but to be honest I am glad it's over every year. My season starts first week of September, and for me its non-stop most of the time. I take off work for roughly 30-40days between the end of October into December. I would like to say I can't way til next season, but honestly I can. I am looking forward to Trout season, and a fun filled summer just to relax and wind down from the hunting season! Anybody else just plain get burnt out with it?
I'm pretty much the exact opposite. While I love trout fishing with my grandpa, I try to have a bow in my hand at all times. Bowfishing, spring turkeys, and then whitetails. I live to bow hunt!
Hog season year round down here but yes, it's good to get out fishing again. Got an over night trip planned to fish the Everglades in a couple of weeks and can't wait.
No, not this year. I hadn't done much bow hunting in the past few years and my son started bow hunting so it was all new to me again. I had the most fun bow hunting I've ever had. Even when I did bow hunt hard I didn't get burnt out on it. But, and I think this is the biggest reason I don't get burnt out, I don't hunt everyday, morning and afternoon day after day. I pick my days according to the wind. I understand what you're talking about though. I'm an avid waterfowler and towards the end of season i'm ready for it to be over and this year was no different. In fact I was probably more ready for it to be over than other years. It becomes a grind, day after day getting up early and fighting everything that goes with duck hunting.
My body usually is, but I'm not. Maybe for about 3 days then I'm ready for the season to get here again.
I am usually okay with the season being done because I waterfowl hunt, ice fish and snow goose just as much as I do bow so I am always keeping busy chasing other game. If I bow hunted only, I would never want it to end.
I'm happy its done, had a good season, plenty of meat in the freezer. Now its time to start moving stands for next year and gearing up for fishing. I shoot my bow year round so its not like it will be collecting dust until Sept
I get like that some years...mostly cuz Im a wimp and dont like to hunt the cold I wish I was some where warmer and with hogs all year, then Ill take my time and hunt a bit here and there, and never get burnt out (i think anyway lol). For me, when it gets cold and I still have tags, I cant wait for the season to end, so I can stop thinking of excuses to not hunt lol. I did get burnt out last year, was unemployed through bow season and hunted hard, but no shots (on bucks, passed a lot of doe), so by the end of season my mental game wasnt in it like I would have liked. Was nice to get out of the tree and do something else.
Usually, I'd vote no. This year though, I wasn't sad to see the season end. I saw very few deer this season and the weather was terrible after Thanksgiving. I'm not really excited about shed hunting either. Seeing so few bucks makes shed hunting sound like a lot of walking with little hope of finding anything. I'll be ready for season again in a few months, but for now, I'm not missing it.
I'm the complete opposite, I don't get to go out nearly as much as I would like during the season with a full time job and two little kids at home. So when the off season does come around and I do get some free time, it drives me crazy I can't go hunting. Plus everything I do in the off season, the practice, scouting and working on my spot is all just to get ready for next year. Only 7 more months till September!
