Great job so far guys. We had a rough morning. My wife was ready to come back home so I'm done for today. I'll be back at it again tomorrow.

Well here he is, my first gobbler. 8.5" beard, 3/4" spurs, and 22.5 lbs. I never even saw him until he was 13 yards away strutting in my decoys. After about 2 minutes he finally turned around and started pecking at something on the ground, I drew, waited for his head to pop up, and sent the bullhead his way. I had a camera on my decoys but I'm not sure why it didn't pic him up before I shot him, it only got my reaction when I went to go get him.

UPDATE: After having the cold laser treatments on my shoulder (to prevent surgery, hopefully)... looks like it worked VERY WELL!!! I went shooting my bow today. Shot about 30 arrows. I got tired and my groups started to expand after a half hour... but my shoulder did not hurt or bother me at all. I'm going to be practicing from now until the 5/1 opener daily...

    LET'S GO TURKEY HUNTING !!!

Awesone birds and good luck to everyone! Opening weekend was fun but we didn't get anything. Birds were silent for me both days. Also had to leave early because of storms that thrashed some of our property. Going back out this weekend. Hopefully we'll do better.

It's windy again today, but did have a bird gobbling this morning. He wouldn't cooperate and eventually I lost track of which direction he went. I'm still out here so hopefully I can find him again.

Great start guys! I can't say I have hunted much. When I have had the opportunity it has been cold, windy, and wet. I did find 6 more Lbs of morels yesterday. That's over 20 Lbs harvest on the new lease this year. Trying to be selective as we want to have just as good of crop next year as we've had this year. Good thing KS has a long season. I am not getting worried just yet. I've killed a lot of birds the first week in May.

    Fairly inexpensive....

    Hunting license $72.50
Nonresident Permit: $32.50 - First Turkey
Nonresident Turkey Game Tag: $22.50 Second Turkey

So for $127.50 you could harvest two turkeys. Your out of state license would be valid for the remainder of the year. Could come back and bird hunt, etc... at no charge. Or use it for deer season if you drew a tag. You are to late this year to draw but could possibly acquire a left over permit in July.

I don't typically encourge people to come hunt Kansas but since you are a teammate and all.....

I shotgunned a bird this morning. It was a nice 3 year old. I wanted to make sure that I got a bird before breaking out the bow. I'll be hunting with my bow next week so hopefully I can find another bird.

    Good job jake!

Hunted a little today. Spooked a group on the way in. Then my day just kept getting worse. Found 2 good bucks locked up on our lease. :(

I couldn't take it...opening day to my season today and had seen plenty of birds this morning but nothing close. Very cold (35 degrees) and snow and wind. Got out of the blind around 9:30 after the last bird left the field and came back around 3:30. around 6 birds started funneling into the field. Had DSD Stutter, jake, and upright hen out and had jakes come in to attack the jake twice with great footage. Couldn't take it the second time and took my first bird of the year. Now I can get more house work done and scout another property we just gained access to for maybe alissa's bird. I will post pics tomorrow. It got dark on us fast when I finally found it.

    Alright everyone,

My jake measures out as follows:
    17lbs
    3/8 and 3/8 spurs
    5 1/2" beard
    =35.5

Alissa hunts next week if she finds some time around work. Many more birds where I hunted as well as a lot of untouched property I have permission on. May buy a later season tag as well if time allows.

Checking in. Rain and windy here. :( Mother nature seems not to be on my schedule this year. :(

Just looking at the score board... Fletch, are you going to post your bird? I see we are currently in second place! Or so it would appear...

If I can get the glass to my car fixed from the hail storm. Were probably coming up for a weekend.
