Just picked one up today from Cabelas in a .40...... Looks and feels like a sweet gun........ if you've shot one....any thoughts on this?

Looks like the standard service duty XDM to me? They just came out with a XDM target with a fiber optic front sight and vented slide.

Great guns! I have sold a mess of them. Will take all of the abuse of a glock and feel more comfortable while doing it. You will be pleased!

Yes, you are correct, this is not the XD Tactical(too much Cut and Paste), this is the 4.5 XDM in a .40...I've heard nothing but good on these guns, cant wait till Sunday to pick it up from the shop!

I have the XDm 3.8 compact in 9mm that I use as my carry gun. I really like it, but I will probably buy a single stack later on to use as a carry weapon. The double stack is just too bulky and heavy when loaded with 13rds.

I have both the XD 40 and 45. I personally prefer the XD45.

How would it feel in big hands? I am looking for a gun to buy so I can get a concealed carry permit, but I don't want a small framed gun (will only be under the seat of my truck really).

Feels good in my big hands, the XDM package comes with grip saddles, a small and a large...the medium saddle comes installed from the factory!

The XDM 9 and 40 are built on the original XD45 frame, allowing for the high capacity mags.

Good deal. Anything you dislike about the gun so far? My .44 is kind of a hassle as far as carrying around in the woods and whatnot, so something new is in order.

Ihunt, The only thing I noticed that I don't like is the venting back towards the shooter makes it sound (to me) a lot louder than the 1911.

I haven't had any problems with mine either. I actually think that mine is quiter than most 9mm's I've shot, but mine is vented. The shorter grip makes it almost invisible in my Crossbreed. I would like to see them come out with a single stack that was slimmer.
