IA has had a Xbow season since the beginning of time for disabled hunters. It just takes a Dr note. No big deal,.you are hurt and want to be able to keep on hunting. Other than that, IA has tons of bowhunters and there are a dozen pro shops within an hour and half from me, which shows IA is not lacking in bow hunters. I am a memeber of the IA Bowhunter Association and they have lobbied for years to keep them out of the woods as a general archery weapon for all hunters. I like what they do, and they have lobbied successfully for years to keep the gun hunters out of the woods during the rut. IA has the BEST whitetail hunting in the nation, bar none, and IA doesn't need to "Fix" anything so that we can all have a touchy good feeling and "bond" together with everyones liberal views.

For those opposed to xbows in archery season, is there any reason besides the possiblity of more hunters in the woods that you are opposed to?

I'm am strongly opposed to crossbow hunting mostly because of the fact people treat them like a gun, They look through the scope and pull the trigger. Most of the time you can't see where the arrow goes, also you don't have to practice nearly at all with crossbow, witch at some point is going to hurt you.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. You don't like them because they are like a gun? A gun is the most effective weapon you can use, so do you not like them because they could possibly be more effective than a bow? Just trying to get what you're saying.

Yes, They are just a firearm with limited range, that is raised to the shoulder, aimed like a gun, and fired. The lack of movement required to fire them is an advantage over a bow that is drawn, once game finally is within range. The bow hunter is at a disadvantage to the Xbow hunter, as he or she has to wait till the deer is close enough, THEN he or she must draw the bow. To let guys that can just sit out there and wait till they are within range, all the while having had the scope on them for the last half hour of the animals approach, is just an unfair advantage over the bow that has to be drawn, once the animal is within range. This causes movement and noise, which is tough to pull off..

So you dislike them because they are easier to hunt with? And somehow this affects you as a bowhunter?

I am saying that alot of people that use crossbows treat them like a gun, as in not accounting for the flight of the arrow, time it takes to get to the target etc...teamed up with the fact that people who use them don't have to practice nearly as much it can be a very bad combination. But on the other hand Crossbows can be way more effective due to the fact you don't have to draw before you, and the blistering speeds. So yes in a way i don't like them because they can be way more effective then a compound bow.

    Why stop at crossbows?

Maybe guns should be added to the archery season as well?

This way no hunter will be left behind.

Ok...I'm kidding. I couldn't care less about this to tell you the truth. It doesn’t affect me much.

Yep pretty much sounds like similar arguments that the trad guys can make towards the compound guys with their 60%-85% let off long with their extended range. The trad hunter is at a disadvantage to the compound hunters.

I say lets keep those "liberal" compound yielding freeriders out of the woods too. Archery seasons should only be for those wllling to hunt with longbows and wearing loincloths. There is no question that this enactment would allow IA hunting to improve even more would it not?

I don't know, Byron Ferguson has an advantage over any compound shooter I have ever seen.
