Ty, I waited until the last evening I could hunt of the season to give you a fighting chance on our side bet!
What a fun evening sit! We set a record high of 60 degrees and it felt like I was heading out on an early October hunt. I figured the deer would be hitting my late seeded oats plot but had no idea because my cameras have all been dead since before Christmas. I had 9 does and fawns come out early but they were 400 plus yards away feeding in weed stubble that I had mown down in October. Go figure, they would like that over the plot. At about 5 pm they all grouped up and marched as a group all the way across the bottom straight to my plot and started feeding right in front of me. When they started my way I actually got about as excited as I do when I am buck hunting. It's always fun to know you are going to get a chance at taking any deer. So, meat in the freezer and points on the board and winning a side bet with Ty. All in all, a pretty great year! Best of luck to those of you still hunting!
Great story Fletch, thanks for sharing. I’m the same way. When I make that decision that I’m going to take a doe, I get just as excited. I’m still hunting pretty much every day until our season ends on the 19th. I’m holding out for a buck here in PA but will definitely take a doe if I don’t get one soon. Good luck team! I should add a clause that allows me to disqualify an entry because of crappy pics. Congratulations buddy!!! Swinging until the last sit!
I was wondering if anyone would say anything! lol. I have a hard time getting my buddies to even take a picture of a doe. They always say, "are you kidding me!" I tried to take a few selfies as soon as I climbed down and walked to her at last light, but as you can see.....I obviously don't spend much time taking selfies and there were no social media types within sight. Most of the ones I took were missing either most of my face, or all of the bow. I guess if I am going to lose at something, I would rather it be a selfie contest. Chief, a very serious THANK YOU for once again running a great contest. You get points posted at the speed of light and participate in many, many threads. Sometimes you even have decent content. Wishing you the very best in 2026!
If I’m alone I just prop my phone up, start the video recorder and just walk to the deer, move it around to different poses and then I can pause the video and take a screen shot of different poses. It’s easy.
Works like a charm if you trying to get that perfect pic. Sometimes I like that and others I dont even take pics lol
