This is a pretty heavily hit scrape closest to me. But the deer have knocked the branch of in the last year, they still use it and the. There’s another one about 10 yards down with a branch.
A couple of you guys will appreciate this. The family surprised me with a trip to Pittsburgh for my birthday. Go Steelers!
Coffee down and headed out shortly. This will be my last sit this trip. I’ll be back out on Friday. It’s 30 degrees and calm. Good luck out there this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Everyone's favorite member and Team X's favorite member this morning! Looks like a good hit A, congratulations.
Question for you guys that have experience with corn fields. The neighbor to the south combined the 65 acres of corn on Saturday. With the timing of the rut, do you have any suggestions on how that recently cut corn field should play into my hunting strategy this week or is it not going to be that big of a factor? I can probably get one morning sit and 3-4 evening sits this week. It is the only harvestable food source for probably 5 miles in any direction, and directly to the west is 4 lane divided highway with high fences for several miles in each direction. Thanks,
They’re definitely gonna be coming out to clean up any leftover corn, but they’re gonna make a lot of scrapes along the field edge. Look for those and hunt them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Man Fletch, I don't think I noticed how stinking close to perfection from side to side this joker was. The deductions are sub inch side to side almost all measurements in the Gs....incredible.
My wife hit a good buck with her Jetta last night. 200 yards from the house. The kids (7 and 10) have been tracking him all morning.
I gotta be honest Ty, I guess I did not really take a lot of time looking at that. But, you are right, it is very symmetrical for sure. I wish some of my bigger bucks were more like that. I would have several more net booners if so. I guess I normally focus on the gross and really don't pay much attention to the net scores anymore. I figure if the deer grew it, it all counts. lol Congrats again on taking a beautiful buck in a year that you really didn't have much time to focus on deer hunting. That is always a bonus!
This time of year, the bucks like to cruise just inside the timber line and cross each trail so they can scent check them for estrous does. I think your best bet is to be just a few yards into the timber instead of right on the outside edge. Ultimately, if you can set up a comfortable shooting distance from the outside edge and cover both options is best. Good luck!
