Amen, to that. I'm headed back to Ohio Friday morning and will hunt thru Monday morning. I still don't have any mature buck's daylighting but that should be changing any day.
No dice last night. Got some family and church things clear through Sunday. Might not get out for a doe until mid week. Someone else get out and put something down!!
I am headed to Colorado hiking for a few days to give Ty a fighting chance at our doe challenge. Good luck everyone!!!
Love it, competition inside of competition! So a little bit more about yesterday. I rode in on my bike about a mile and a half and put myself in position of a 50 yard wide funnel close to a few known bedding areas on the way back from a good sized food plot. I wanted to try and catch a buck on his way back to his bedroom hoping he was up late with the rain we had. No such luck, didn't see a deer at all. After getting out for the morning I went and did a camera check on our home camera on the Cuddelink with 18 cameras connected. Deer movement pretty much stopped from 10/23-10/29. From 18 cameras, a cell camera and a few others I had maybe 15 buck pictures over 6 days on 450 acres. Only a couple of them in daylight. The stand I hunted Sunday night last weekend "slingshot" the buck with the cool looking G2's came through about 2 hours after shooting light so I know he's hanging out close, we had him there in daylight 7:30am last Friday morning as well. I spent some time on the GIS map with the 2 foot contours on looking for any little pocket that he might be holed up in. I picked out one spot. Yesterday afternoon I spent an hour back out in the area we think he's hanging out and tried coming up with a travel pattern. I found one bed under an oak tree on a small nub that for sure is a buck bed used recently but the lack of sign I don't think it's a heavily used bed. About 30 yards from there I found a tree shredded from the bottom to about chest high, other than that the sign is pretty minor. Interesting scenario with the property south that has 65 Acres of corn that is still standing. I am not sure if that is playing a role in movement this late in October this far north in MN. They gun hunt and my guess is they will have it harvested next week right before the gun season opens. Below is where we think he is primarily hanging out as of the weekend based on times of the couple pictures we got of him. Wider view then the topo of the 40 If you guys have any thoughts ideas or suggestions I'm all ears.
